Utah Democrat Ben McAdams narrowly won his congressional seat in 2018 and Republicans hope to make him a one-term member. And on Tuesday, the party picked their nominee: Former NFL player Burgess Owens, a Fox News commentator who raised the most money of all his Republican rivals headed into the primary. Owens, who played a decade in the NFL as safety for the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders, bested state Rep. Kim Coleman to win the nomination. Trump carried Utah’s 4th Congressional District by 7 points in 2016. And while McAdams won in 2018, his win was narrow, leading...

New York voters head to the polls next week for the primary election on April 19. While Clinton has strong support from black voters, some supporters worry that Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders has begun making inroads with them. Clinton and de Blasio took the stage on Saturday at the Inner Circle, an annual media roast of politicians that...

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Bob Odom's withdrawal from the race for agriculture commissioner Thursday was the latest in a string of victories for Louisiana's Republican Party, which now controls five of seven statewide elected posts. The change marks a power reversal for the GOP and the Democrats: Republicans are historically the underdogs in Louisiana, but have taken control of all five positions _ including governor _ in less than two years. Republicans could win a sixth statewide spot next month, in the runoff election for state attorney general. Analysts said the shift makes sense, as conservative voters who once voted...

William Odom, second from left, senior fellow at Hudson Institute and a professor at Yale University tesitify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on "Iraq: Military Strategy" in Washington D.C. (AFP/Getty Images) Jan 18, 2007 It is a curious thing, how any critic of the Bush Administration who happens to carry prior military service is trumped up as an expert voice of reason to listen to, whether it be a Wesley Clark, John Kerry, or Jack Murtha; or when a handful of the 4,700 general officers who are out there enjoying retirement,...

General William Odom (US Army, ret.) is a vocal critic of the Iraq deployment and wants it ended asap. He put his arguments in the Washington Post last Sunday in an op ed which was essentially an encore of an op-ed he wrote in 2005. General Odom is a distinguished public servant but his arguments are to me wholly unpersuasive and border on indifference to many obvious issues. I have just taped an interview with him which will play in the program's third hour today. ____________________________________________ Key excerpts: HH: But how much worse could it get if we weren’t there?...

He said he was conducting a poll to present to Breaux in hopes of coaxing the Edwin Edwards protégé to abandon easy street in Washington, D.C. to save Louisiana from the Republicans. A source close to Odom has leaked the results of the Democrat poll. It ain’t looking...
