The Pornhub Insights team said its statisticians noticed an increase in porn viewership and a shift in the hours during which people are watching porn in D.C. Tumblr announced this week it will ban content featuring nudity from its platform, starting December 17. The decision was met with lots of backlash from users who view the site as a safe space to explore their identity and sexuality through not safe for work (NSFW) content. Many Tumblr users have said they plan to abandon the platform for alternative blogging websites that allow explicit content, some which can be found below. Tumblr says it's banning "adult content" from its platform in order to make "a better, more positive" place, but the policy change has some users abandoning the site....

Tumblr will ban adult content from the platform starting Dec. 17, the company announced. This change will also get rid of Tumblr’s Safe Mode, the search filter designed to purge NSFW content from a query. Explicit written content, such as erotica, is still permitted as well. Tumblr will instead be focused on creating “the most welcoming environment possible for our community.” Tumblr has allowed NSFW content on its platform since the site launched in 2007. Earlier this year, under new management Tumblr will purge most NSFW content under new guidelines.
