Just saying. I remember when McCain's just showed up in the popular keywords right after he won the nomination in 2008. For three years Palin and Sarah Palin were popular keywords, in fact I think I saw her there this week (Seriously I don't look there much, but I believe Sarah has recently gone) Now Romney and Romney2012 are popular keywords here. Just saying.
  • After Florida win, Romney stumbles in comments on poor

TAMPA, Florida - Mitt Romney regained the lead in the Republican presidential nomination race with a big win in Florida, but drew criticism on Wednesday in what should have been his victory lap with remarks suggesting he was indifferent to America's poor. Romney rolled to an impressive triumph in Florida, capturing 46 percent of the vote to Newt Gingrich's 32 percent after pounding his nearest rival with negative advertisements. The victory restored him to front-runner status in the state-by-state battle for the Republican nomination to run against Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 6 general election. But the wealthy...

No, it’s not your imagination. Things are uglier than ever in the Sunshine State. A staggering 92 percent of the political ads run in Florida over the last week of the campaign have been negative. “For as long as I’ve been in politics, 14 years, journalists call me and ask if this is the most negative election ad atmosphere I've ever seen,” says Kenneth Goldstein, president of Kantar Media CMAG, which tracks content and targeting of political advertising. “And every year I say, ‘Don’t be ridiculous.’" “But this year it's true. This primary season is the most negative it's ever...

The most telling moment of the debate was (Romney's) response to Rick Santorum's eloquent explanation of Obamacare's importance to the GOP's strategy ...and why giving Romney the nomination would be ...surrendering the high ground on health reform: "Folks, we can't give this issue away in this election. It is about fundamental freedom." ...Romney then uttered the most revealing words of the debate: "First of all, it's not worth getting angry about." Obama's recent State of the Union address contained only three references to his "signature domestic achievement." This is, as Michael Barone puts it, "the strongest evidence possible" that the...
  • Romney Advisor: Putting the boot on the neck of Gingrich. Aiming to destroy Gingrich in FL for good.

After Gingrich Newt scored a surprise blow-out victory in South Carolina last week, the former Massachusetts governor not only unleashed a political broadside of epic proportions. "It not about winning here anymore," one Romney staffer told BuzzFeed. "It's about destroying Gingrich — and it's working." After two standout debate performances that put him up 9 points in recent polls, Romney is keeping the pressure on Gingrich, looking to score a blow-out victory of his own here. To that end, Romney has rolled out a team of surrogates in the Sunshine State to take the fight to Gingrich in person: from...

As Ben Domenech notes in his Transom, Mitt Romney’s advisors have now advised him to support “a $2 gas tax, a VAT, and open Taliban talks.” Add to that list not repealing Obamacare. Norm Coleman, an advisor to Romney, went on record saying We’re not going to do repeal. You’re not going to repeal Obamacare… It’s not a total repeal… You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president… You can’t whole-cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what’s been done.

After looking over GOP speeches from this primary cycle, especially those wherein Mitt Romney stated (and restated) his belief in man-made global warming, it occurred to me that many of his positions sound eerily familiar, if not strikingly similar, to those held by President Barack Obama. And after looking more closely, it was interesting to set statements from the two side by side and see how little difference there actually is between them on environmental issues. First of all, as I alluded to above, they both believe in man-made global warming. For example, during the 2008 president debates Obama said,...

Just days before the South Carolina primary, polls showed Mitt Romney leading Newt Gingrich. Then came the debates and the question about Gingrich's private life, which brought a devastating response from the former Speaker of the House — and a standing ovation from the audience. Apparently the television audience felt the same way, judging by the huge turnaround in the support for Gingrich. The stunning victory in South Carolina brought Newt's candidacy back to life. But the message from South Carolina was about more than a reaction to how Gingrich dealt with a cheap shot question from the media....

Romney today on Fox News Sunday claimed to be a Washington outsider and would if elected to the presidency bring change to Washington's insider ways. Well, guess his working with Senator Kennedy to impose socialist healthcare on his Massachusetts constituents was just an exception to his Reaganesque conservatism and dedication to liberty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4iTtNGjFY4&feature=player_embedded And link to article: http://www.letfreedomringblog.com/?p=11908 ‘Ideal TEA Party candidate’ Romney praises Ted Kennedy Newt sat on a couch with Nancy Pelosi. Romney's contributions to Dems came at a time when he was a registered Independent, and even voted for Paul Tsongas in the 1992 primaries. Indeed, his contributions at the time suggest that he was drifting away from the GOP. In addition to his giving to the Dems, his donations to Republicans had all but ceased. Romney had routinely made donations of $1,000 or more to the Massachusetts Republican State Committee throughout the 1980's, but did not make any donations to them in 1990, 1991 or 1992. Only two years later, however, Romney veered back to the GOP, unsuccessfully running for...

Mitt Romney is the only 2012 candidate whom a majority of Republicans — including conservatives — consider an “acceptable” GOP nominee for president, according to a Gallup Poll Tuesday. In the new survey, 59 percent of all Republicans said Romney would be an acceptable presidential nominee for the Republican Party. Just 46 percent said the same for Newt Gingrich and 45 percent for Rick Santorum, who were trailed by Rick Perry at 37 percent, Ron Paul at 29 percent and Jon Huntsman at 21 percent. Romney is also the only candidate whom the majority of both conservative and moderate/liberal Republicans...

LIBERTY ALERTS, GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA As New Hampshire voters get set to head to the polls, Mitt and Jon Huntsman continue to ignore requests from gun owners that he return the GOA candidate questionnaire. Thank to your efforts, we’ve heard from most of the Republican candidates, including Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul. But Romney and Huntsman continue to turn a deaf ear to the Second Amendment community. Romney’s stonewalling is no surprise. PRINCETON, NJ -- Mitt Romney is the now the only candidate that a majority of conservative and moderate/liberal Republicans nationwide see as an "acceptable" GOP nominee for president. Conservative Republicans are more likely to say Romney would be an acceptable nominee than either Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum.

I don't know what happened between November of 2010 and January of 2012, but from the looks of things the Tea Party died. How else do you explain it? Rewind to November of 2010, race after race, congressional seat after congressional seat, Governorship after Governorship. Only a little more than eighteen months after President Obama had packed the mall in Washington for his historic inaugural, the Tea Party held it's historic event in which nearly the same size audience had attended--according to maps supplied by the USA Today. That event catapulted a state by state tsunami-like momentum where grassroots, low...

Conventional wisdom is that whoever wins the Iowa caucus has an encouraging boost to get the Republican nomination for president in November’s vote. Never mind that Mike Huckabee crushed Mitt Romney in the 2008 Iowa caucus, and neither went anywhere; in the 2000 caucus George W. Bush easily beat Steve Forbes and went on to win his party’s nomination; or that in 2000 Robert Dole edged Pat Buchanan and both fell by the wayside. So while winning in Iowa is a morale booster it doesn’t mean much, and will quickly be forgotten after New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida. This...
