Forget "Star Wars Night." Forget bobblehead giveaways. Forget throwback jerseys and $1 hot dog promos. The Atlanta Hawks have decided that if you're going to do a theme night, you might as well fully embrace your city's lore. On March 16, the Hawks will host "Magic City Monday," a one-night collaboration honoring Magic City — which the team's official press release delicately describes as Atlanta's "iconic cultural institution." The rest of us call it a strip club. Because that's what it is. This isn't a halfhearted gimmick, either. The Hawks are going all in, bringing in rapper T.I. for a...

Watching Florida Panther forward Matthew Tkachuk gush over U.S. president Donald Trump at the White House while donning the Commander-in-Chief’s signature red tie may have been a hint, but a new report gleaned from publicly available voter registration data finds that the NHL’s American players are among the most right-leaning in professional sports. Only one league, Major League Baseball, had a higher percentage of American players who were registered as Republican at 53.7 per cent compared to just 7.8 per cent Democratic and 36.4 Independent. The NHL came second at 43.9 per cent Republican, 5.6 per cent Democratic, and 48.6...

MILWAUKEE -- Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Lakers honored legendary coach and current Miami Heat executive Pat Riley with a statue outside of Crypto.com Arena. The eight-foot tall, 510-pound bronze sculpture captures Riley in a triumphant pose with one arm raised above his head and dressed in his iconic Armani suit. Few coaches in NBA history, if any, have been as stylish as Riley, who commanded the sidelines in an array of designer suits and alligator belts. It was no surprise, then, that he had some thoughts about the current fashion trends in the league. "I wish it went...

Selling Michael Jordan’s ultra-personalized compound has been anything but a slam dunk. The massive home has remained on the market for 12 years and slash its price twice. Jordan made his mark on the Chicago area estate: His name is painted on the basketball court, flags wave with his Air Jordan logo, and his jersey number adorns the gate, according to the Wall Street Journal. Jordan first listed the mansion at 2700 Point Lane in Highland Park, Illinois for $29 million in 2012, chopping it down to $16 million in 2014, and to $14.9 million in 2015, Compass shows.

He has been trying to sell it for 13 years, initially putting it up for...

Michael Jordan's enormous house in Chicago is still on the market after 10 years. Jordan has tried to sweeten the pot by cutting the price nearly in half and throwing in a complete set of Air Jordans with the purchase of the house. And yet, it remains unsold and he pays more than $100,000 in annual property taxes. The house was originally listed for $29 million and has every bell and whistle you can think of. Some "over-improvements" and the house's location are making it hard to sell the property.

Michael Jordan mostly kept himself out of controversy at the height of his fame with the Chicago Bulls during the 1990s but it was a comment about selling sneakers that drew the most ire. Jordan’s comment, “Republicans buy sneakers too,” resurfaced Sunday night in an episode of ESPN’s “The Last Dance” documentary. Jordan admitted that the remark, which was made during the 1990 U.S. Senate race in North Carolina between Democrat challenger Harvey Gantt and incumbent Republican Jesse Helms was "said in jest.”

In a statement shared via The Undefeated on Monday morning, Jordan said the following: “As a proud American, a father who lost his own dad in a senseless act of violence, and a black man, I have been deeply troubled by the deaths of African-Americans at the hands of law enforcement and angered by the cowardly and hateful targeting and killing of police officers. I grieve with the families who have lost loved ones, as I know their pain all too well. “I was raised by parents who...

Deni Avdija is the first Israeli basketball star to play in the NBA's All-Star Game, as a starter for Team World. Avdija is proud to be there, telling the media, "It's a dream come true," to represent Israel on the court. But because sports cannot be free of politics, this is how filmmaker Spike Lee showed up at the game, decked out in "Free Palestine" garb. Simply incredible.

After the first contest of the 2026 NBA All-Star Game -- which featured a brand new format with two USA teams and one World team -- ended, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was asked by the NBC broadcast about wanting the ball on the first possession of overtime. Edwards didn't directly answer the question, but his response was telling. Edwards admitted that Victor Wembanyama "set the tone," and it was hard not to match his energy. It was a stark contrast to Edwards' comments on the eve of the NBA All-Star Game, when he directly said "no" when asked if the...

LeBron James, who was among several Lakers players who weren’t available Tuesday night, will missed his 18th game of the season when he sat against the San Antonio Spurs, likely bringing an end to a legendary record. James’ absence against the Spurs will prevent him from reaching the NBA’s 65-game threshold for end-of-season award considerations, meaning he won’t be eligible for All-NBA honors. The 41-year-old James has been named to league-record 21 consecutive All-NBA teams, starting with second team honors following 2004-05, his second season in the league, and continuing through 2024-25, when he was also named to the second...

The news in October that stars and coaches from America’s National Basketball Association, the NBA, were allegedly involved in a $7 million illegal gambling operation — involving what prosecutors described as “x-ray poker tables” and “sunglasses to read the backs of playing cards” — was all the more alarming for who their co-conspirators were said to be. More than 30 people were arrested in a sweeping FBI investigation, among them members of an organisation as infamous as the NBA is famous, and one that many believed had long faded from view: La Cosa Nostra, the Italian-American mafia. “New York City’s...
