NEW YORK (WABC) -- A teenager was beaten so badly during the celebrations outside Madison Square Garden earlier this week that he's in a coma.
It happened following the Knicks Game 4 NBA Finals win against the San Antonio Spurs.
The 17-year-old victim was approached by a group and then attacked during a verbal dispute outside 235 West 35th Street around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.
The fight apparently began with a content creator allegedly provoking Knicks fans.
Detectives have reviewed cellphone video that shows the content creator interviewing a member of the crowd.
The content creator asked members of the crowd, "Who do you got?" And one person said "I've got the Knicks."
A person with content creator, in an apparent attempt to provoke the crowd for social media, responded, "Spurs in 7."
The person being interviewed responded, "Go Knicks, suck my (expletive)."
A fight then ensued. Police said the group of Knicks fans challenged the content creator, and the 17-year-old victim became involved and was assaulted.
Authorities said the teen was kicked multiple times in the head and body.
He suffered a seizure and went into a coma, police said. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition and has since been stabilized.
No arrests have been made. Police released a surveillance image of one of the people believed to be involved and are searching for others.

BLM ? NBLM ! Not Bloody Likely Mate
If its black on black - most black people do not care.
If it’s black on black, most white people do not care.
“More black on black crime”
Is it?
Another gig for Killer Karmelo’s so-called parents?
One thing I learned in the ‘90s when attending games in the LA Coliseum: never wear the opponents colors or openly root for the opponent if you don’t want to be harassed. And it only has gotten worse since then.
Multiple people kicking and stomping the head of someone down is not a fight it is attempted murder.
something definitely wrong with todays yutes
Brilliant.
Poor Kid. I hope he recovers from his coma.
Most of us have gotten a little bit mouthy when attending a good game or boxing match. It was nothing sinister, just very unwise. When you get your bell rung and then go into seizure, your nervous system may never fully recover.
Some people are more vulnerable to that kind of injury than others.
Some would say no alcohol served at sports events. Of course that would do nothing with the fans watching on big screens outside nearby the event. Then again, you can’t blame alcohol. Stupid needs no alcohol.
if it's black on whoever, black people do not want the police involved at all.
That's the real point.
Yup- i was a Jets fan who used to travel to see them play in Buffalo and New England in the mid 80’s when the team was good...you don’t act like an ass- root for your team and then shut up....
Mouthy is one thing- and i’ve gotten mouthy at sporting events when it was a home game...being stupid is quite another thing and this is being stupid:
“The content creator asked members of the crowd, “Who do you got?” And one person said “I’ve got the Knicks.”
A person with content creator, in an apparent attempt to provoke the crowd for social media, responded, “Spurs in 7.”
Wanted some clicks, got some kicks.
Why, why, why would you want to provoke someone like this ?
I couple give two flips about the NBA myself , but it’s mass hysteria for the locals. Insult the Knicks, for that you must be beaten . Crazy
Insert the “he chose poorly” meme here
So... what was a 17-year-old doing hanging around NYC at midnight?
Creating content ! /s
In other words shooting video, probably on his phone , to be uploaded on to some social media platform.
YouTube, Tik Tok, Instagram, whatever else is out there.
What would be the point of going then?
But is Philly fans are the bad ones.
