Mount Holyoke College’s anti-Israel student group posted various pro-violence graphics to social media, referring to themselves as militants and stating that “armed struggle” is the only way to “liberate Palestine.” Last week, the 1837SJP club at the Massachusetts college posted a graphic with five points to its Instagram, one of which called for the destruction of Israel by stating that “Palestine” must be Arab and that “armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine.” The Mount Holyoke SJP group posted a graphic claiming “armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine.” The group claims to be the official...

Mount Holyoke College hosted in September its Common Read Keynote with Pulitzer-winning New York Times journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones to talk about The 1619 Project, which was chosen to be this year’s common read. During the keynote, Vice President for Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Kijua Sanders-McMurtry interviewed Hannah-Jones. "I don’t think we’re an exceptional nation. I think that’s ludicrous for any nation to make that claim, and we certainly cannot make that claim." Tweet This “I think the 1619 Project should honestly be at every college, university, corporation, and school foundationally if these institutions are truly interested in...

The New York Times' debunked 1619 Project will be the literature that “sets the tone” for the year at one Massachusetts college. In a school-wide email on August 13, Mount Holyoke College announced that the New York TimesMagazine’s 1619 Project will be this year’s “Common Read.” Holyoke’s “Common Read” tradition started as a component of Mount Holyoke College’s Orientation in 2000, and occurs annually, “designed to give students new to Mount Holyoke College their first intellectual dialogue based on a shared text.” The program “sets the tone for the community” and “helps collectively frame discussions for the upcoming academic year.”...

A leading researcher on a ridiculed taxpayer-funded study of duck penises is now using her expertise on orca whales and is going to the "March for Science" to protest budget cuts. Patricia Brennan, a visiting lecturer at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, worked on the duck penis study that received $384,949 from the National Science Foundation, a grant that was funded through the 2009 stimulus package. The study looked at the differences in the corkscrew-shaped penises of ducks.
  • Here's the reason this all-women's college cancelled its yearly 'Vagina Monologues'

The “Vagina Monologues” was once a yearly tradition at Mount Holyoke College, an all-women’s school in Massachusetts. But not this year. The reason? Apparently the show is no longer feminist enough and actually hurts women because it doesn’t include monologues from trans-women. Suddenly, the most feminist play in America is both transphobic and racist. “At its core, the show offers an extremely narrow perspective on what it means to be a woman,” wrote Erin Murphy, a representative for the school’s Theatre Board, said in a campus-wide email obtained by Campus Reform. “Gender is a wide and varied experience, one that...
  • All-Women’s College Cancels “Vagina Monologues” Play Because It’s Not “Inclusive” of Transgender

How many transgender students are currently enrolled at Mount Holyoke? . . . Zero. Via Campus Reform: Mount Holyoke College, an all-women’s college in Massachusetts, is retiring its annual production of the Vagina Monologues this year because the play is not inclusive of transgender students. The annual production of the play is part of a country-wide tradition to perform Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues on Valentine’s Day to raise awareness about gender-based violence and usually coincides with the V-Day campaign. The proceeds are donated to sexual assault prevention organizations or women’s rights organizations.
