Six-figure salaries have long been seen as a milestone for gauging success — the peak between the arduous grind of climbing the income ladder and breathing a deep sigh of relief. Those with a $100,000 salary earn more than double the median individual income for 2021, which might imply financial comfort on first glance. But when accounting for taxes and cost of living in America’s largest cities, those six-figures will feel much smaller.Ultimately, to have the purchasing power of $100,000, you will have to earn a substantially higher salary. With this in mind, SmartAsset set out to determine the salary...

This year instead of going to Sarah Lawrence, you could buy three Toyota Corollas, and still have $10,000 left over. CampusGrotto.com has released their rankings of the most expensive colleges in the country — fees and housing included. Sarah Lawrence has topped the list four years in a row (at nearly $60,000), but they’re not terribly lonely atop the list. Nineteen universities now charge more than $55,000. When Campus Grotto started the rankings in 2007, only one school’s tuition and fees topped $50,000 (GW) — now 111 do.

Americans are fretting over the rising cost of gasoline, and are now paying above $4 a gallon for gas in some spots in the country. But that $4 a gallon number is nothing compared to some corners of the earth, where high taxes drive gas prices higher. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), a German research firm, reviewed prices in November of 2010, and found some countries with gas costing more than $9 a gallon. And that's BEFORE the surge in oil prices spurred on by instability in the Middle East, This data also provides a little clarity as to...

Newsmax has a story entitled, "Obama Inaugural Most Expensive In History," noting that: Despite the recession, Barack Obama’s inauguration will be the most expensive ever and could approach $160 million — nearly four times what George Bush’s inauguration cost four years ago.Nearly four times as much as Bush's inauguration - and this in spite of one of the worst recessions in U.S. history. The wasteful extravagance, of course, is an issue in and of itself. When the hell are politicians going to learn not to throw away other peoples' money on frivolous nonsense? Don't we have anything better to spend...
