The antiwar groups are at it again in Olney, Maryland. Olney is 10 miles due north of Washington, DC, on Georgia Avenue, which is the same road where we FReep at Walter Reed and the same road where the Protest Warriors, with help from some FReepers, tangled with protestors at the Silver Spring Recruitment Center back in November. On Saturday the 14th a few strong hearty Freepers went to Olney to confront the latest moonbat gathering. The Peace Action group was present with one left over hippy (Bush Hater using some of his limited four letter vocabulary), several Quakers (focused just only one part of scripture, Blessed are the Peacemakers), and one or two DNCers (In Denial they voted for any Clinton). They arrived in their Asian cars with Kerry stickers on their bumpers, posters with pictures of fallen heroes, posters with War is not the Answer (with no other solutions), and two large banners. The afternoon started with the arrival a small but determined group from the Walter Reed victory on the Friday night. The group contained Apple Blossom, Lurker Bill, Concretebob, Doctor Raoul, Lurker Joan, gate2wire, Lurker George and his wife Ethel, and bmwcyle. We had a visit by a Vietnam Veteran, who stood on the grassy knoll above the peace-niks. He told them that signs similar to the ones their hands help to kill over 50,000 of his brothers in arms. After several Saturdays away from Olney, we (Mr & Mrs Trooprally) returned to a rousing welcome by having 12 dedicated FReepers, lurkers and family in Olney. The leftists had 15 but we are shaping their agenda. The backboneless leftist scurried (Read 'retreated' as Rep. "HOLD MY UMBRELLA" was all I heard from someone behind me. I turned and had the handle of an opened umbrella handed to me and this guy, Bruce, determinedly crossed over to the leftist corner. We Got Snow, the wet kind that is no different from rain, it was cold (luckily no wind), and we got coffee. TWICE we got coffee. WHAT A WEEK MAKES!!!The call last week for "Boots on the Corner" was heeded by FReepers and locals alike. We had 8 to the moonbats 12. This is what the warmer weather brought out in Olney. It seems that as the weather warms up, the fair-weather antiwar protesters start to crawl out from under their electric blankets. This week the grumpies out numbered us 14 to 5, three times our number!!! And I foresee their numbers to grow.
