In A Nutshell Sleeping with the lights on is linked to a 42% higher risk of heart attack compared to sleeping in darkness, based on a study tracking nearly 90,000 adults over 9 years. The brightest bedrooms also showed higher risks for heart failure, coronary artery disease, irregular heartbeat, and stroke. The connection held even after accounting for diet, exercise, smoking, and genetics, suggesting light at night is a factor worth managing for heart health. Simple fixes like blackout curtains, turning off devices, and keeping bedrooms dark may help protect your heart. Maybe it’s the glow from your alarm clock,...

Obviously both are important and require a massive shift away from the status-quo, but if you had to pick one, which is more critical for the well-being of America?I'd personally think immigration reform is slightly more important, but understand if that's not as critical to some others.

In another shocking case out of Sweden, Swedish girl Meya Åberg was assaulted and raped by African migrant Yazied Mohamed while on her way home from work at McDonald’s in Skellefteå when she was only 16 years old. However, despite the migrant being sentenced to prison, he will escape deportation, with the four judges out of a five-judge panel citing his belief that the rape did not last long enough to merit deportation. In fact, after the rape, the victim was confronted with seeing her rapist, Mohamed, at school, at work, and around the town she lived in, showing just...

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is the GOP gift that keeps on giving. In an interview on the BBC show Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris said, “I am not done. I have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it’s in my bones.” Republicans can only hope that Harris is the Democratic Party presidential nominee again. In the 2024 race, Harris was a disastrous candidate. After performing reasonably well at the Democratic National Convention and in her only televised debate with President Donald Trump, Harris decided not to engage with the media. She was rarely interviewed and...

Next week, millions of Americans who rely on food stamps are going to feel something brutal and immediate: their benefits won’t show up. The money simply won’t load onto EBT cards. Grocery trips that were already hard are about to become impossible. Food banks are already warning they can’t absorb the impact if this drags on. This is not an accident. This is not a “glitch.” This is a direct result of the ongoing federal shutdown — a shutdown driven by Democrat demands to force taxpayer-funded health coverage for illegal aliens back into the budget.

A woman and her four-day-old newborn have died after her boyfriend allegedly strangled her and set fire to their home in New York while the child was still inside. Kidane Haile, 30, was indicted and arraigned for second-degree murder on October 23 in Erie County after allegedly killing his girlfriend, 29-year-old Kathleen Carrig, and his infant son, Noah, according to the district attorney's office. District Attorney Mike Keane said Haile 'is accused of intentionally killing his girlfriend prior to the fire,' and added that his office anticipates filing additional charges after further

President Donald Trump greeted Malaysian dancers with his signature moves as he kicked off his highly anticipated week-long foreign trip to Asia. Drums played as he strutted down the red carpet, leading him off Air Force One in Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, toward the native dancers on Sunday morning local time. After a 23-hour flight from Washington, DC, Trump, 79, stepped side to side as he pumped his fists.

I'm not recommending any remedies for hacked phones - not even the one at the link, because I am not technical and I'm skeptical of commercial software said to work on state level cyber spying. While Pegasus spyware was designed by an Israeli cyber-intelligence company to combat criminal and terrorist activities, it has also been used to spy on voices challenging power, like activists, journalists, and whistleblowers.Data suggests that more than 50,000 people are being, or have been, monitored by Pegasus spyware — with serious implications for their privacy and personal safety. Learn more about this unsettling spyware and get tips...

World War II is laden with unsung heroes, and Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz certainly falls into that category. While the remarkable deeds of people like Oskar Schindler are well known, Duckwitz’s role in saving 7,000 Jews in Denmark is less so. He was one of those brave Germans that looked to damage the Nazi Party’s plans from within and risked his own life out of a desire to do the right thing.

[H/T Red Badger]Since most portions of the post, including the video, contain profanity, I excerpted just the summary at the bottom of the page out of respect for FR's policy regarding profanity. Basically, the theory is the big insurance companies are threatening not to pay for Dem campaigns next year so Dems shutdown the government during which time the insurance companies get paid while those they insure (e.g., military) do not. Below is an AI analysis of the theory.SNIPSummary: The speaker claims the government shutdown isn’t really about political infighting or healthcare policy—it’s about protecting major insurance companies (like UnitedHealthcare,...

Real-time data shows the water temperatures underneath Tropical Storm Melissa are 600 times more likely due to climate change. The analysis is operated by Climate Central, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the science and communication behind climate change. The organization compares current sea surface temperatures to average, then overlays the current and forecast track of tropical systems. Melissa is currently a tropical storm southeast of Jamaica and southwest of Haiti. The storm will move over very warm water, around 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and that warm water will be a key piece of the storm's rapid intensification. Melissa is predicted...

Robby Starbuck @robbystarbuck🚨 HUGE NEWS: I’m suing @Google today. What you’re about to see is insane.Since 2023, @GoogleAI (Bard, Gemini & Gemma), has been defaming me with fake criminal allegations including sexual assault, child rape, abuse, fraud, stalking, drug charges, and even saying I was in Epstein’s flight logs. All 100% fake. All generated by Google’s AI. I have ZERO criminal record or allegations. So why did Google do it? Let’s put the events of the last 72 hours into context. On Monday and Tuesday, Russian oil refineries in NATO countries Hungary and Romania suddenly, and simultaneously, have mysterious explosions and catastrophic fires {citation}}. On Wednesday, NATO head Mark Rutte comes to visit President Trump in the White House, and at the end of the day, the same Russian company, Lukoil, whose refinery exploded in Romania, suddenly becomes sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury. These events are not disconnected.President Trump then disputes a Wall Street Journal report, further saying he did not give approval, nor does he know where NATO long-range missiles...

As many of us have seen, Windows 11 is introducing AI into PCs programmed with that O/S. Granted, there are methods of removing it. Installing W11 with Rufus software is a common way of doing it. Using Flyoobe is another option. There is also software out there to remove unwanted components once W11 is installed. Regardless, I, and I'm sure many others, are trying to find ways of running Windows software on a Linux system. I've run across a few software packages in Linux that try to accomplish this. Bottles, Wine, Winapps and PlayonLinux are just a few things I've...
