The Department of Homeland Security announced that 1.6 million people who were in the United States illegally have self-deported, and another 500,000 have been deported.
The department has been pushing self-deportations, spending millions on advertisements that showcase a $1,000 payment and a plane ticket that people who register to self-deport are given.
It's unclear how much money in total has been given to people who have self-deported.
Tricia McLaughlin, DHS' assistant secretary for public affairs, said the Trump administration is on pace to "shatter" current deportation records.
"President Trump and Secretary Noem have jumpstarted an agency that was hamstrung and barred from doing its job for the last four years," she said in a statement.
"In the face of a historic number of injunctions from activist judges and threats to law enforcement, DHS, ICE and CBP have not just closed the border, but made historic strides to carry out President Trump’s promise of arresting and deporting illegal aliens who have invaded our country," McLaughlin said.
"Illegal aliens are hearing our message to leave now or face the consequence: Migrants are now turning back before they even reach our borders. Migration through Panama’s Darien Gap is down 99.99%," she claimed...

I hope this number will not go down, or increase, annually, every year Trump is in office.
It is still hard to believe we need to see 10m self or involuntarily deported just to get back to 2020 numbers.
18 million left to go…if they really wanted this to work they’d start fining employers.
That 1.6 million number never seems to move.
We have to frame this properly.
People who are for illegals breaking into America, are people who hate the natural born citizens of their own country. Theres no other reason. They support foreign lawbreakers. The why matters not. They support outside the country criminals breaking our laws.
If they didn’t, they know how our system works, they could work to change the laws to their favor. They don’t though. Yiu think mm they would as they think the relevsnt laws are unfair, but they don’t. They despise the people who don/ want their country flooded by lawbreaking, entitled foreign invaders.
This was announced 2 months ago. I expect the numbers to be higher now.

I wonder how this number is calculated.
Self deportation is the primary way it gets done.
All other efforts serve as motivation.
I wondered that also. Might be the ones that have accepted the $1000 and free plane trip.

Good start. If we can remove 2 million a year for 4 years it will make a nice dent.
We should be taking samples of their DNA so we can ban / bar their whole family's for 50-100 years from being able to come to America if they do not self deport..
