In A Nutshell
Sleeping with the lights on is linked to a 42% higher risk of heart attack compared to sleeping in darkness, based on a study tracking nearly 90,000 adults over 9 years.
The brightest bedrooms also showed higher risks for heart failure, coronary artery disease, irregular heartbeat, and stroke.
The connection held even after accounting for diet, exercise, smoking, and genetics, suggesting light at night is a factor worth managing for heart health.
Simple fixes like blackout curtains, turning off devices, and keeping bedrooms dark may help protect your heart.
Maybe it’s the glow from your alarm clock, the TV you fall asleep to, or the hallway light you leave on throughout the night. Whatever the source, sleeping with ambient light might be doing more than disrupting your sleep—it could be affecting your heart. A study of 89,000 people found those with the brightest bedrooms had a 42% higher rate of heart attacks over nearly 10 years.

This is from the same people who said that eggs are bad for you.
Yes, I was surprised how much blue LED lights on clocks light up the room at night. I too have switched back to red.

Given the important issues they are facing in the UK at the moment, I’m sure the taxpayers there are grateful the ‘experts’ are saving them from the evils of nightlights.
If I kill my night light, I’ll have an 1100% higher chance of stumbling down the spiral staircase after tripping over a cat.
Whenever a finding is based on a study, my BS meter starts pinging.
I cannot sleep with any lights on or even filtering thru the curtains...................
I believe this about as much as I believe the media.
Oh great. Now what do I do about the monsters under my bed? They can cause heart attacks too, you know.
Blackout curtains, temperature at 68 or lower, and I sleep like a rock. Eight hours per night is critical to one’s overall health.
Classic correlation without causation.
I keep my bed next to the window with the shades open so I can stare at the stars. It’s not like there are any neighbors close by.
The actual truth —that they REALLY don’t want you to know— is that night lights are actually Monster Beacons! You got a nightlight? Guaranteed, Monsters under the bed...
I like dark, I wanna see it painted, painted, painted black!
Stars are cool though.
I have to sleep with the TV on. Makes no sense I know.
