Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) was the guest on Friday’s episode of ABC’s The View, which was live as the news broke that the House of Representatives voted to expel now-former Rep. George Santos (R-NY). It was predictable that the hosts would ask Fetterman about Santos, but he was more interested in seeing someone else expelled: fellow Senate Democrat Bob Menendez of New Jersey. Fetterman sat for three segments on Friday’s show, and he discussed a variety of topics with the hosts, including his health improving since his near-fatal stroke and bout of depression — “Fox News is devastated to know...

Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.), the No. 2-ranking Senate Democrat, called on embattled Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) to resign Wednesday. Durbin had declined to call for Menedez to step down during a television interview Sunday but he changed course Wednesday after 22 Senate Democrats called for Menendez to leave office. “Leaders in New Jersey, including the Governor and my Senate colleague Cory Booker, have made it clear that Sen. Menendez can no longer serve. He should step down,” Durbin wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Sen. Bob Menendez’s (D-N.J.) support among New Jersey Democrats took a hit over the past year, according to a poll published Thursday. In the latest Monmouth University poll, Menendez, who is up for reelection in 2024, had the approval of 58 percent of New Jersey Democrats, with 23 percent disapproving, and 19 percent saying they don’t know. That’s down from April 2022, when New Jersey Democrats’ approval of Menendez was at 66 percent, with at 16 percent disapproving, and 17 percent said they didn’t know.

President Joe Biden’s pro-migration amnesty bill cannot pass Congress unless business leaders actively pressure and police both politicians and media outlets, says Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ), who is leading the Senate push. “Let me close by saying to my friends in the business community: We need you to give it everything that you’ve got,” Menendez told amnesty advocates Thursday, January 21. He continued:
  • Congress looks to strengthen hand in State Department following impeachment

High-profile dismissals of U.S. diplomats who participated in the House impeachment inquiry are raising questions about what oversight authority Congress has to push back on the president's actions. American diplomats serve at the “pleasure of the president” but charges of political retribution, campaigns of disinformation and threats to personal safety are prompting some members of Congress to call for more concrete protections for the officials. “Choosing who serves on your team is one thing. Kicking someone out because they're not loyal to your personal political agenda is another,” Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations...

U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, just a few months after surviving a federal corruption trial that threatened to land him behind bars, is scheduled to announce Wednesday that he will seek another six-year term. The New Jersey Democrat, 64, will kick off his campaign in Union City, his hometown, at an event attended by U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, Gov. Phil Murphy and other “prominent New Jersey Democrats,” according to an advisory from his campaign. Menendez’s main opponent come November will likely be the well-funded Republican Bob Hugin, a Marine Corp veteran and former pharmaceutical executive who, like Menendez, ascended to great...
  • Is Salomon Melgen Ratting Out Sen. Robert Menendez?

Menendez and Melgen in happier times Paul Mulshine of the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger, the hometown newspaper of Senator Robert Menendez, has penned a column titled, “Will the eye doctor see his way clear to singing on the senator?” It’s about what a judge did in Thursday in Florida. Dr. Salomon Melgen, Menendez’ co-defendant on bribery charges, was supposed to be sentenced for his conviction on separate charges of Medicare fraud. The judge agreed to delay sentencing until after the bribery trial, scheduled for September in New Jersey, suggesting that Melgen may be cooperating with prosecutors and will testify against...

A federal appeals court on Friday refused to drop corruption charges against Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), according to The Associated Press. Menendez's attorneys had argued that his actions on behalf of a campaign donor were protected because he's a sitting senator, but the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed. Prosecutors allege that Menendez received bribes from Salomon Melgen, an ophthalmologist and wealthy Florida donor, in the form of campaign donations and extravagant gifts. In return, Menendez allegedly set up meetings with government officials to arrange favors for Melgen. Both men pleaded not guilty last year. In February, Menendez’s...
  • Obama’s Justice Department Charges Menendez … But Not Reid

The Obama Justice Department has filed its much anticipated corruption indictment against Senator Robert Menendez. He is the New Jersey Democrat who, from his powerful senior seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, has vehemently opposed President Obama’s negotiations with the jihadist regime in Iran, as well as his outreach to Castro’s Cuba. Two things about the Obama administration cannot be denied. First, the president is desperate to cut a deal with the mullahs on their nuclear program, so much so that he has erased virtually every red line he ever purported to draw and has not been shy about...

HOBOKEN, N.J. | With a rooftop pool and 24-hour concierge service, the new luxury condominiums off Frank Sinatra Drive here seem an unlikely spot in need of a multimillion-dollar federal giveaway. Yet U.S. taxpayers doled out at least $8 million on a public walkway and park space in front of the Maxwell Place development here overlooking the New York City skyline - an amenity the development touts alongside its entertainment lounge, rooftop hot tub and theater screening room. But the decision to use tax dollars to fund the walkway project was made after private developers had already agreed in 2003...

Some interesting poll numbers in a swing town A poll conducted for the Democratic mayoral candidate in North Arlington shows Republican Thomas Kean, Jr. leading Democratic U.S. Senator Robert Menendez by a 47%-29% margin in this Democratic-leaning blue collar town of 15,181 people. The same survey, done by Neighborhood Research, gives Democrat Peter Massa a 31-point lead in the race for Mayor over Republican Peter Norcia, and Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney a ten-point lead against his GOP challenger, Todd Caliguire. North Arlington's voter registration is 30% Democratic, 18% Republican and 52% Unaffiliated. In 2005, Jon Corzine won North Arlington...

O.J. Simpson's daughter is expected back in court today. Sydney Simpson, 20, was granted a continuance last month on charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident at Everglades School last year. She was arrested in January 2005 after refusing to stop yelling at officers outside the school. Witnesses said that Simpson got into a scuffle after she thought someone had made negative comments about her mother.
