Virginia has recently passed a law requiring the state Board of Education to draw up a curriculum for gun safety education for elementary schools. Governor Bob McDonnnell vetoed one portion of the bill (the Virginia state constitution allows for partial vetoes) that would have permitted the Board to use material not only from the NRA's Eddie Eagle program but also from the National Crime Prevention Council (McGruff the Crime Dog's organization).
