Explanation: Named for a forgotten constellation, the Quadrantid Meteor Shower puts on an annual show for planet Earth's northern hemisphere skygazers. The shower's radiant on the sky lies within the old, astronomically obsolete constellation Quadrans Muralis. That location is not far from the Big Dipper asterism, known to some as the Plough, at the boundaries of the modern constellations Bootes and Draco. The Big Dipper "handle" stars are near the upper right corner in this frame, with the meteor shower radiant just below. North star Polaris is toward the top left. Pointing back toward the radiant, Quadrantid meteors streak through...

Brandon has been undermining the US as a superpower from day one. Mis-steps in Afghanistan, with pipelines and energy, and Russia are all strategic. General starts at 9:30 on video. Disregard title, which is BS. You Tube keeps doing that with titles to insult our intelligence.

Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America 02/28/22 If my energy policy had remained in place, where we were energy independent, and would have soon been bigger in production than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined, the world would have had no problems whatsoever. This war should never have started in the first place. If the Election wasn’t Rigged, America would right now continue to have record-low gas prices, as it was under my Administration, and we would be supplying the world with oil and gas. Also, Russia would not have attacked Ukraine. Instead, we...

Those who are unfamiliar with Venezuela’s unprecedented economic collapse might be surprised to learn that the country’s oil production has only slowed, even as the price of a barrel of crude has risen in most international markets. Unsurprisingly (it’s Venezuela), there’s a macabre explanation for this phenomenon: The workers at PDVSA – Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, which once showered Venezuelans with oil wealth – are literally collapsing due to hunger and exhaustion as workers defy their government handlers and flee their jobs in their desperation as the value of their pay has been completely erased. Bloomberg spoke with several workers...

As lawmakers debate NASA's future, some advocates for commercial spaceflight have banded together to produce a video supporting President Obama's vision for the space agency. The eight-minute video, produced by the Space Frontier Foundation, lays out arguments for Obama's proposal to redirect NASA's agenda and spur private companies building spaceships that could transport astronauts to low-Earth orbit.

Astronauts flying in space are used to VIP phone calls that don't always go as scripted, but Wednesday's conversation was probably one of the most awkward. President Barack Obama used his chat with the crews of the space shuttle Endeavour and the International Space Station to declare that he sees space exploration as "so important." "My commitment to NASA is unwavering," Obama said. He emphasized "how proud we are of you ... and how committed we are to continuing human space exploration in the future." A few weeks ago, the White House unveiled a plan to cancel NASA's new spaceship,...

The former Orland Fire Protection District firefighter is accused of bilking the district out of more than $200,000 when between 2003 and 2006 he fraudulently claimed he was deployed overseas with the military. Though Masa is a veteran, he wasn't in the military during those stints, prosecutors say. He was working for a private contractor and falsely claiming military leave benefits from the fire district.
SAN FRANCISCO(AP) - Federal scientists are investigating whether electricity in the upper atmosphere might have doomed the space shuttle Columbia as it soared over California, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday.

Investigators are also reviewing data recorded by a little-known network of instruments that might have detected a faint thunderclap at the same time a purplish bolt of lightning may have struck the shuttle high above Earth, the paper reported.
