John Turscak, 52, stabbed Mr. Chauvin 22 times with an "improvised knife" in federal prison in Arizona, according to the documents. Mr. Turscak was subdued by responding corrections officers. Mr. Turscak later told officers he would have killed Mr. Chauvin if the officers had not responded so quickly, federal prosecutors said in the documents. The stabbing took place on Nov. 24 at about 12:30 p.m. Mr. Turscak waived his Miranda rights and told FBI agents...

The Minneapolis cop convicted of murdering George Floyd in 2020 has been thoroughly scrubbed of his personhood, let alone his rights. Nobody bothered to tell his family or his lawyer that another inmate had attacked him Saturday. Despite being the most notorious ex-cop in America, he wasn’t protected from violent prisoners. The fact he was even in the ill-run federal prison in Tucson, Ariz., 1,638 miles from his family, speaks volumes. His lawyers argued that he had been denied a fair trial because Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill refused to move to a venue outside Minneapolis despite massive pretrial publicity...

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Thursday that 74 people are facing federal charges stemming from clashes in Portland, Ore., amid protests over systemic racism and police brutality. Portland’s months long demonstrations, sparked by the killings of Black Americans like George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, have largely been peaceful, though have at times turned violent and led to looting and clashes with law enforcement, including federal agents deployed to the city this summer to protect federal property. “Violent agitators have hijacked any semblance of First Amendment protected activity, engaging in violent criminal acts and destruction of public safety,” U.S. Attorney...

The Atlanta cop who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks could face a felony murder charge, Fulton County’s top prosecutors said Sunday. Fulton District Attorney Paul Howard said his office will decide this week if Garrett Rolfe, who was fired following Friday’s fatal shooting, will be charged in the case — and said that could mean a murder charge, he told CNN. “(Brooks) did not seem to present any kind of threat to anyone, and so the fact that it would escalate to his death just seems unreasonable,” Howard told the network. “If that shot was fired for some reason other...

The usual suspects are indignant, indignant I tell you, about the fact that President Trump used the term “lynching†in one of his tweets: Donald J. Trump ✔@realDonaldTrump So some day, if a Democrat becomes President and the Republicans win the House, even by a tiny margin, they can impeach the President, without due process or fairness or any legal rights. All Republicans must remember what they are witnessing here - a lynching. But we will WIN! 7:52 AM - Oct 22, 2019 The accustomed media and left-of-center figures immediately began howling and caterwauling. This is unsurprising. If Trump...

Multiple Democratic presidential candidates attacked President Trump on Tuesday for his comparison of the impeachment inquiry to lynching, which they called a "stain on this nation’s history." The president tweeted earlier Tuesday that Republicans should acknowledge they are “witnessing” a “lynching” with the House's impeachment process, racially fraught language that drew prompt criticism from Democrats and some Republicans. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) called lynching a "reprehensible stain on this nation’s history," adding that Trump constituted another. “We’ll never erase the pain and trauma of lynching, and to invoke that torture to whitewash your own corruption is disgraceful,” Harris tweeted. Sen....

Impeachment rallies are being held across the country. Organizers said they’re fed up with President Trump and the way he’s leading our country. One of the rallies was held in San Francisco Sunday afternoon off the Embarcadero. “This is the San Francisco location of a nationwide set of rallies going on,” Organizer Vara Ramakrishnan said. “There’s about 57 rallies in cities and towns and small streets all over the country. What we’re doing is we’re showing our support to congress which is headed back to DC tomorrow at a uniquely dangerous time in our country’s history.” Ramakrishnan continued. “Families, little...
