MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) Another protest is planned at the home of the former Minneapolis police officer who was captured on video Monday with his knee on the neck of a handcuffed black man who died not long after.
George Floyd lost consciousness under the weight of Derek Chauvin, who was fired Tuesday along with three other officers after bystander video of the fatal police encounter sparked outrage across the country.
In the nine-minute video, Floyd repeatedly tells Chauvin he cant breathe. Despite pleas from on-lookers, Chauvin only removed his knee from Floyds neck so that the 46-year-old could be loaded onto a stretcher.
On Tuesday evening, protesters gathered at Chauvins home in Oakdale, a suburb east of St. Paul. The demonstration was peaceful, and the citys police chief said that those gathered had a reason to be upset, given the circumstances.
Another protest is planned for Wednesday. Information posted to a Facebook page says itll start at 4 p.m. The organizer wrote that they want Chauvin to feel our pain while keeping the demonstration as peaceful as possible.
Peaceful was not how a large protest in Minneapolis stayed Tuesday night. While a large crowd gathered peacefully in the afternoon at the scene where Floyd was arrested, a smaller group marched to Minneapolis Polices Third Precinct and clashed with officers in riot gear. The struggle lasted into the overnight hours, with protesters throwing rocks and police hurling tear gas and flash-bnag grenades.
Chauvin and the other three fired officers, whose names have yet to be released, encountered Floyd after being called to a deli in south Minneapolis where he had allegedly tried to use forged documents. Police initially said that Floyd tried to resist arrest, but video obtained by CBS News appears to contradict that, at least in the initial moments of the encounter.
Floyds death is being investigated by the FBI, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the Hennepin County Attorneys Office.
What we know about Derek Chauvin and Tou Thao, two of the officers caught on tape in the death of George Floyd
They’re protesting that he was fired?
In the old days, people of authority (officers, politicians, ect) were held in check by the thought of the people dragging them out of their homes for their wrongdoings. This, I believe, is something we have lost. Politicians especially need to fear the people when committing wrongs against the people.
This protest seems appropriate.
As long as it’s against this police officer, and not simply an excuse to condemn all whites because of the actions of a few, or to push the false narrative that it’s open season on oppressing/killing African Americans.
I thought that Minneapolis was a leftist Utopia. did they import police officers from the redneck South? /sarc

CROWD GATHERS OUTSIDE OFFICER CHAUVINS HOUSE AS HE TRIES SEVERAL TIMES TO ORDER DOOR DASH. THEY WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR DASH TO HIS HOUSE SAYING IF HE CANT BREATH YOU CANT EAT.
Is the government making exceptions to the quarantine just for anti-cop protests? Are they going to charge all protesters with potential murder?
ping
Such irony.
A literal CHAUVIN-ist?
Wow.
Mr. Floyd died while the officer had him on the ground. He went limp before the EMT’s arrived. He was brain dead when he relieved himself as is visible in the vid. His heart stopped later.
It’s about time the JBT’s felt some fear.
When one expires, one’s bowels and bladder relaxes and the contents of both follow the pull of gravity.
So it’s just typical a lynch mob.
Democrats never change.
Yeah, it looks like 2nd degree murder charge will be coming soon.

Not imported. The police are racist a-holes. My BIL is a retired Ramsey County sheriff deputy. He was “Jon the saint” his whole career, until one day I insulted him and now he acts just like these stiff necked power hungry racists, 2 faced MPLS cops.
Black people are a target. The police have an attitude problem. Even the “good guys”. Why else would somebody want to be a cop? The hippies in the 1960’s were right.
As it should
Leo’s ought to be alarmed by the loss of confidence in them from conservatives. Of course they don’t care and won’t until we start defunding some of these departments. They will care when their retirement checks stop coming. Of course the bootlickers don’t care either. The cops could force people to their knees and shoot them in the head and they would still support the “heroes in blue”.
Of course, the ultimate goal is to do away with local police departments and replace them with a National Police Force.
