Reenactment of the Battle of Lowicz, 1939 (pictures, video) Battle of Lowicz was fought between 11 and 14 September, 1939 - being a part of the Battle of the Bzura – the largest battle of 1939 campaign in Poland. Actually – the battle of the Bzura was also the largest counter attack land operation against German forces until 1941. Town of Lowicz was heavily destroyed by the German forces. Yesterday - on December 18, the Memorial Chamber of Lowicz Jews has been solemnly opened in Lowicz (Poland). It's dedicated to those, who lived in th etown for several centuries, being its active citizens. The event was the continuation of the action to promote history of the town. Two days ago - On December 18th, 2007 and amazing memorial has been unveiled in my hometown Lowicz (Poland). The idea of this memorial is to commemorate the Jewish and Polish citizens of Lowicz and also the Soviet POWs - all the victims of two forced labour camps located near Lowicz during WW2. The memorial has been built of 3 blocks of basalt wrapped togehter with barbed wire. Reconstruction of the Battle of Lowicz (part of the Battle of Bzura- September 1939) – PHOTO ESSAY (high volume) The event took place today on October 13-14, 2007, in my hometown Lowicz (Poland). Excellent thing to watch. But what a happy generation of Poles we are today, that we can go to see “war” right after the lunch, to come back home for a cup of hot tea, or coffee.
