Two days ago - On December 18th, 2007 and amazing memorial has been unveiled in my hometown Lowicz (Poland).
The idea of this memorial is to commemorate the Jewish and Polish citizens of Lowicz and also the Soviet POWs - all the victims of two forced labour camps located near Lowicz during WW2.
The memorial has been built of 3 blocks of basalt wrapped togehter with barbed wire.
The speaker of the Polish Parliament Bronislaw Komorowski, the ambassador of Israel David Peleg and the ambassador of Russia Vladimir Grinin took part in the ceremony.
The Israeli ambassador said, that the Lowicz memorial is probably the first one, that shows not only suffering, but also joint fight against Nazi occupant.
The Russian ambassador thanked the authorities of Lowicz for this sign of memory dedicated to the Soviet POW's, who gave their lives on Polish soil.

Thanks for the post.
On a side note I want to say that I really like the way the Polish Army has kept their uniform traditions. They have this WW2 style and their traditional caps. Very nice.

Only for parades.
Usually they're wearing more like this:

Beautiful memorial. Of course, Poles have far too much experience building memorials. My wife once lived in Lowicz as a child, and I’ve driven through the town a few times.

Really? Wow :-)
If you like to see more about the town - take a look at my profile page.
I’d ask you how old is your wife and what was her surname at that time (maybe I know her) - but I won’t :-)

Is there a memorial for Polish citizens of all ethnicities murdered by the Soviets and their communist allies?

Thanks lizol. I can always expect the best designs when Poland chooses a monument, it shows how deeply they still feel it all.
