The last thing any tourist wants is to buckle up for a boring attraction. So a new study that reveals 'the 100 most boring attractions across the globe' serves a useful purpose for those keen to guarantee a holiday free from the mundane. America, it seems, needs to up its game on the excitement front, with attractions in the country occupying the top seven spots, beating Shrek's Adventure London into eighth place. And four Legoland Discovery Centers make the top 25. The ranking, by Solitaired, was drawn up by an analysis of 66.7million Google reviews of 3,290 popular tourist attractions...

Lego has abandoned plans to make its famous bricks from recycled plastic bottles, saying that the manufacturing process would be more polluting than the current production of oil-based bricks. Lego made the decision — first reported by the Financial Times Sunday — after it spent years testing recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as a more climate-friendly alternative to the acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) it uses in the majority of its toys. The toymaker has pledged to use only sustainable materials in its products by 2032 and, two years ago, unveiled a prototype brick made from recycled PET. The plastic was sourced...

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Branford resident Richard Fredrick Torrey, III, 35, was arrested Sunday after allegedly stealing Lego sets from Walmart. At 3:59 p.m. Torrey entered Walmart with re-usable shopping bags going to the Lego section of Walmart in Butler Plaza, Gainesville, Florida. Torrey filled the shopping bags with 26 Lego sets with a value of $1,001 and walked past cash registers. A Walmart loss prevention employee called Gainesville Police to report Torrey exiting the store.

If the pandemic’s been good for anything, it’s Legos. With people spending more time at home, the pandemic has led to a buying boom for the building bricks. David Hall, a Virginia-based collector, told The Post that, in May 2020, he sold a “Star Wars” Republic Dropship — which originally bought in 2010 for $250 — for $1,250. “Hype and nostalgia play into how much you can get for reselling old sets,” Hall told The Post. “The biggest drive is when adult fans want to maybe get that expensive set they never got as a kid.” In fact, discontinued Legos...

Police in Seattle went undercover to break open what they said was a trafficking ring involving the sale of expensive stolen goods: Lego, taken from an Amazon store. Saying they had seized 171 sets, police released a picture showing the boxes stacked together. Biden urges action on infrastructure and spending in New Jersey speech: ‘Let’s get this done’ – as it happened Read more The accused store owner denied knowingly selling stolen goods, protested against the picture and said he would fight the resultant charges. About a week ago, a company in Utah that makes custom modifications to firearms debuted what it described as a fun new product: a kit that encases Glock handguns in red, yellow and blue Lego blocks, refashioning lethal weapons to look exactly like children’s toys. “We have been building guns out of blocks for the last 30 years and wanted to flip the script to aggravate Mom,” Provo-based Culper Precision explained on its website. It went on to argue that personal defense is a right granted by God and that gun ownership is protected by the Constitution before getting to...

A couple of days back, I opened Fox News Primetime with a dramatic piece of breaking news:The Daily Beast has new details of the painstaking plans that went into the most insurrectionally insurrectional insurrection ever. Normally we'd use the Fox News Alert sting to bring you this headline, but in the entire history of music there are no notes and chords dramatic enough to convey the full horror of this breaking news:'Riot Leader Had "Fully Constructed U.S. Capitol Lego Set" at Home, FBI Says' Dozens of crack G-men from the FBI descended on the home of a Pennsylvania man –...

BILLUND, DENMARK—As part of its new push toward inclusion and diversity, LEGO has unveiled a new set of genderless bricks without male or female connectors. The entirely smooth bricks have no suggestive male nubs or female receptors and instead have entirely smooth, androgynous sides all around. "This represents a new era in inclusive building bricks!" said LEGO spokesperson Bjørn Irkestøm-Slater Walker. "Finally -- anyone can play with our LEGOs without being triggered by those horrid male and female parts that imply they're only supposed to fit in one direction. Every brick can stack on any other brick without anyone misgendering...

Four times in recent weeks, members of the White House press corps have relayed questions to press secretary Jen Psaki from someone claiming to be a fellow reporter who was not able to be there in the room due to Covid protocols. That colleague, who goes by the name Kacey Montagu, doesn’t exist — at least not as an actual reporter. Since late last year, Montagu has taken on the identity of a White House correspondent extraordinaire with a fictional outlet to boot: White House News, shortened in emails to WHN. Montagu started two real-life Twitter handles, which are followed...

Lego larceny may be on the rise. French police have been investigating an international ring of toy thieves with a particular affinity for the colorful, interlocking bricks, according to a recent report from The Guardian. In this case, three suspects were caught taking boxes of Legos from a toy shop near Paris, with the goal of selling them in Poland, according to Le Parisien. And it's not just Europe. Lego robberies have happened in the United States as well. Last month, a man in Oregon was arrested after local police suspected he stole $7,500 worth of Lego toy sets.

Obviously frustrated over the success of the Republican National Convention (RNC), the media are now fabricating a scandal to attack President Trump’s three-year-old grandson. Welcome to LegoGate. During her speech introducing her father at Thursday’s RNC, Ivanka Trump told the story of her three-year-old son, Joseph, building a White House out of Legos and gifting it to his grandfather, who also happens to be the President of the United States. “When Jared and I moved with our three children to Washington, we didn’t exactly know what we were in for. But our kids loved it from the start,” she said....

Pediatricians have to deal with all kinds of interesting situations in their daily work with children, and kids eating random objects is one of them. Children just love to stick stuff in their mouths, and while parents do their best to keep tiny toys away from eager eaters thereÂ’s always a chance that something like a Lego finds its way into the stomach of a youngster. A half-dozen pediatricians decided to see what effect, if any, a tiny yellow Lego head would have on their own bodies by volunteering to swallow them. Their findings were reported in the Journal of...

BILLUND, DENMARK—Lego has just introduced new and improved interlocking plastic bricks that will instantly kill you when you step on them, sources at the company’s headquarters confirmed Thursday. The sharper edges in the new design will just immediately put you out of your misery, so you don’t have to roll around on the ground in excruciating pain for minutes on end. Utilizing advanced laser-driven techniques, Lego factories can now hone the edges of the famously sharp and painful bricks to such a fine point that the human nervous system instantly shuts down upon coming into contact with them. “Our engineers...

My Pine64 Media Center Several months back, I participated in a Kickstarter campaign for the PINE A64, First $15 64-Bit Single Board Super Computer. The campaign started in December of 2015, and was designed to fund the production of a 64-bit computer on a card for the masses priced at $15. Initial estimated delivery was January or February. Their initial estimates on shipping were somewhat optimistic, as I just received mine the other day (5/21/2016). Reading through some of the comments on the project, some people were rather bent out of shape about the shipping delays, which is something I...

The gun-control lobby has a new target: Your children’s Lego sets. A new "study" touted by libs decries the prevalence of weapons in the brick construction kits: I kid you not. The gun-grabbers have their panties in a twist over harmless fantasy play with teeny-tiny plastic parts. LEGO building kits are becoming increasingly violent as toy manufacturers are engaged in an “arms race” to appeal to children, a New Zealand study says. Researchers at the University of Canterbury concluded from research that examined LEGO catalogues from 1973 to 2015 that weaponry is now included in 30 per cent of...

Other fans were more ambivalent. “I really don’t know how I feel about this. No one can be Han Solo except Harrison Ford,” said Casey Calvert on Twitter. Disney said the movie’s story will explore how young Han Solo became the smuggler and thief whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley. “This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with,”...

A container filled with millions of Lego pieces fell into the sea off Cornwall in 1997. But instead of remaining at the bottom of the ocean, they are still washing up on Cornish beaches today - offering an insight into the mysterious world of oceans and tides. "Let me see if I can find a cutlass," says Tracey Williams, poking around some large rocks on Perran Sands with a stick. She doesn't manage that, but does spot a gleaming white, pristine daisy on the beach in Perranporth, Cornwall. The flower looks good for its age, seeing as it is 17...

Lego has apparently heard the criticism that its plastic universe is mostly a boys' club, and things will change this summer. A new line of figurines due out in August will feature a female chemist, paleontologist, and astronomer, reports Time. The set was suggested by a female geochemist in Sweden as part of the Lego Ideas platform in which regular folks get to suggest ideas that get put up for a vote. One thing the Guardian likes: The coming set looks "notably devoid of pink." It's about time, writes Abby Phillip at the Washington Post.

A mother says her 5-year-old boy was threatened with suspension after he made a gun out of Legos during an after school program. Sheila Cruz received a written warning recently about her son from the after school staff at the Hyannis West Elementary School because he had been using toys inappropriately. “She (the principal) said, ‘it’s a threat to other children and other children could have been scared.’” School officials say little Joe made the toy gun, then ran around the classroom, pointing it at other kids, and making shooting sounds. Cruz says while she and her husband thought about...
