Billy Bob Thornton has a theory about why Taylor Sheridan isn’t being recognized at award shows. “I think a lot of it’s political. I really do,” the “Landman” star, 70, said in a new interview with Variety. “I think some people assume Taylor is some sort of right-wing guy or something, and he’s really not.” SNIP “Even with this show being about the oil business, he just shows you what it’s like. He’s not saying ‘Rah, rah, rah for oil,’ ” the actor explained. “It’s just the people who work in this business or who are affected by this business,...

This review contains spoilers for Season 2 of “Landman.” But honestly, it must be seen to be believed. Episode 1 of the second season of “Landman” — ostensibly about Tommy Norris, a fixer for an oil company — kicks off with a minute-long rant against breakfast. In Episode 4, a sand hauler plows into a pickup truck on company land. There are multiple fatalities. We basically never hear about it again. In Episode 7, Tommy and his ex-wife-turned-fiancée Angela (Ali Larter, given acres of scenery to chew), have an unprintable shouting match about the appropriate uses of an omelet. Also,...

The ladies hosting The View are fans of the Paramount+ series Landman. In November of 2024, they were gushing over the star Billy Bob Thornton. So they might be shocked to hear a brutal critique of their show and them coming out of the mouth of his character Tommy Norris. It came in episode 5 of the second season when Tommy was explaining to his father TL (Sam Elliott) what "The View was all about. Here is their conversation as relayed by Variety:

The first season of the Paramount+ series Landman has turned out to be a very surprising hit. Not merely because of the incredible acting by Billy Bob Thornton as the landman Tommy Norton, or by Jon Hamm as Monty Miller the oil company CEO, but also surprisingly because it has been giving the audience economic lessons, told in an entertaining manner, on the importance of the petroleum industry. The final episode of the season, although quite thrilling in its development (no spoilers here) was equally as impressive for what it revealed about the oil business starting with the opener of...

A clip from Billy Bob Thornton’s new show "Landman" went viral on X for slamming the use of renewable energy like wind turbines, that are intended to combat the effects of climate change. "They use clean energy to power the oil wells?" Kayla Wallace’s character said in the scene of the show. "They use alternative energy. There is nothing clean about this," Billy Bob Thornton’s character said. "Please, Mr. Oilman, tell me how the wind is bad for the environment?" Kayla Wallace replied. Thornton’s "Tommy Norris" responded, "You have any idea how much diesel will have to burn to mix...
