A clip from Billy Bob Thornton’s new show "Landman" went viral on X for slamming the use of renewable energy like wind turbines, that are intended to combat the effects of climate change.
"They use clean energy to power the oil wells?" Kayla Wallace’s character said in the scene of the show.
"They use alternative energy. There is nothing clean about this," Billy Bob Thornton’s character said.
"Please, Mr. Oilman, tell me how the wind is bad for the environment?" Kayla Wallace replied.
Thornton’s "Tommy Norris" responded, "You have any idea how much diesel will have to burn to mix that much concrete or make that steel and haul this s–t out here and put it together with a 450-foot crane? You want to guess how much oil it takes to lubricate that f---ing thing? Or winterize it? In its 20-year lifespan, it won’t offset the carbon footprint of making it. And don’t get me started on solar panels and the lithium in your tesla battery."
"Landman," a rural America drama created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, details the life of the billionaire Norris family as they interact with power players in the oil rig industry in West Texas.
Sheridan, the creator of the hit TV series "Yellowstone," announced he had plans for "Landman" back in 2022. The show is based off the podcast Boomtown, a documentary series about oil rigs in west Texas and the wealthy people that own them.
"If Exxon thought them f---ing things right there were the future, they would be put all over the g--damn place," Thornton's "Tommy Norris" added.
The scene sparked a debate on X, which saw users praising and criticizing the clip.

Billy Bob Thornton with an epic monologue
(Twitter, LANGUAGE WARNING)Anyone watching this show?
Looking for something good to queue up. Reviews slam it as "Too Trumpy" and too much sex and foul language.
"Landman" streams on Paramount+ and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, and Jon Hamm (Mad Men).
And, FWIW, I hate these damn windmills.
And, that is correct. A friends son did some work at the yuge solar plant outside of Tonopah. He was all ‘greenish’ before that. He said the place is horribly polluted. Made him consider they might just be lying. We also hate the windmills. Remember when folks could sue for someone ruining their “view shed”? WELL?
Saw it. I was surprised it even was put in the show.
I’m watching the show and really like it so far. Waiting for the next episode.
The more I learn about these useless windmills, the more I realize they were the epitome of a "green energy" scam that Obama grifted to all of his donors.
Case in point, a blade fails over farmland, all of the crops, acres of crops, in the vicinity of the failed blade have to be destroyed due to microscopic plastic contamination.
There is nothing "clean" about these windfarm abominations.
There's tons of literature out there on these wind farms and how horrible they are. The blades can't be recycled. Tons of lubricant oil. Short lifespans. Poor return on investment. The destruction of avian wildlife. The list is endless.
As Thornton's character said, "If Exxon thought these things would make money, they'd be everywhere."
As it is, they're only in places where government mandates and Democrat corporate grifters forced them.
Green energy is a scam: you always need to have the reliable fossil fuel/ nuclear plant to meet demand when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing. The production, and disposal of solar panels and windmills is anything but environmentally friendly, also the footprint that these types of energy compared to fossil fuel/nuclear plants for what they can produce is not very green. The only green is the greenbacks the solar and wind people get from taxpayer subsidies.
Kind of surprised Demi Moore is part of a “Trumpy” show. Thought she was a typical Hollywood liberal.
She gets to play the wife of a greedy oilman. It’s perfect for her.
As an oilman from the Permian, it’s as painful to me as a former soldier watching a war movie. Far removed from reality.
Although the moment the rental cars tells the bitchy lawyeress that “you’re in Midland. No, a Mercedes will not ‘stick out’,” is absolutely true.
It’s the per capita richest town in America. And has been for decades. Every other car is a Range Rover and there’s lots of Rolls and Maybach and whatever. Saw a Lamborghini SUV there the other day.
It may provide some valid indictment of the eco-idolatry, but profanity and vulgarity is akin to passing gas in close quarters, and adds about as much to a conversation. I have enough to deal with in my own heart, without being subjected to more of this, which is rampant, esp. now among the Left.
It’s a TV show...
Here is actual hard mathematical science with quantitative numbers for those with the intellectual capacity to read and comprehend it.

I thought Yellowstone was gripping but stopped watching because at most one of the characters was likeable. I wonder if it will go the same way with the Landman series. How can you watch Landman?
Beth Dutton on Yellowstone setup an environmental protester and she was sent to prison. When she got out, she beat her up.
Which one?
Demi Moore is a C list actress now... Or are we to still call men and women ACT TORS? How do they give out Oscars? The Award for best Actor in a female role or a male role?
I’m watching it...good so far.
Classic Billy Bob. Love this show and his IDGAF attitude towards everything
Paramount. I have it in my channel list. You can also subscribe to Paramount +.
Maybe the son who came back from the war. He was a bit of loser though.
The son who was a rancher was likeable, but was killed off almost from the start. The semi-adopted son is very loyal, but he is the family’s assassin and shows no remorse. The father is obsessed with keeping the ranch intact, probably to the detriment of his family. The daughter is loyal to the father but otherwise very hateful.
