Billy Bob Thornton has a theory about why Taylor Sheridan isn’t being recognized at award shows.
“I think a lot of it’s political. I really do,” the “Landman” star, 70, said in a new interview with Variety. “I think some people assume Taylor is some sort of right-wing guy or something, and he’s really not.”
SNIP
“Even with this show being about the oil business, he just shows you what it’s like. He’s not saying ‘Rah, rah, rah for oil,’ ” the actor explained. “It’s just the people who work in this business or who are affected by this business, the people on the periphery and within the families in the business; this is what happens.”

They say this show is the "red-state Game of Thrones." I saw parts of a few episodes when someone else was watching, and it seems 0% conservative.
Hard to believe he’s 70. He looks great.
It’s not a conservative show? What shows do you consider conservative?
True.
Doubt he is crying himself to sleep.
The explanation of the importance of oil/NG and the fraud of wind/solar.
But the show is definitely not woke. In some ways it's more masculine aggrandizing than anything (lead character has lots of swagger, women are hot and often wearing next to nothing, lots of cussing, ex-wife asks the lead character to come home so she can give him sexual favors). It's almost like Paramount figured they were getting too woke and needed some shows that they thought all men would like.
As far as energy goes, there's plenty of scenes where Billy Bob Thornton's characters gives the real life what-for on energy vs green mess, but never in a way that shows that hydrocarbons are better. It's more like a repeated premise that oil companies are large and in charge and it's fun being on the winning side. To me, that sounds like Hollywood leftism trying to explain how they think conservatives feel. Basically leftists projecting how much they like power, but putting it onto conservatives.
It may not be “conservative” in the political sense, but it ain’t a pile of liberal crapola either. And that is saying something for a TV show these days.
I watched a couple episodes and I have to say BB Thornton is a pretty damn good actor. Knew nothing about him other than he was Angelino Jolie’s ex
Tulsa King is also Sheridan’s. He has some good knocks against wokeness on there, too.
For me, it was the constant barrage of F-bombs that turned me off, but the show will continue to make big money. Who needs awards?
“I think some people assume Taylor is some sort of right-wing guy or something, and he’s really not.”
The headline is a lie
This creepy actor called out the awards show for mistaking the guy for a right winger Not for snubbing him
The takedown of the intolerant woke scold roommate by the dingy blonde daughter was pretty epic.
Ive seen the series…. Sometimes a show is just entertainment. This is one. The writers to me try and shine a light on everything good and bad…. Left and right.
I’ve never even heard of Taylor Sheridan.
I have a suspicious feeling that this guy may indeed not be a homo with blue air, nose piercing, and walking around talking about his feelings and boundaries’ all day: https://static.independent.co.uk/2024/11/15/09/GettyImages-1441418456.jpg?quality=75&width=1368&auto=webp
Hot wife, congrats!
Lol agreed…Until the next episode when they have the kumbaya moment and become buddies.
I gave it a try, and the writing has to be the most slapdash and cliché since the glory days of nighttime soap operas like Dynasty and Falcon Crest. Billy Bob’s a great actor, but the show’s a zip.
Sheridan is a left winger deluxe.
You need to get out more Kleon.
