American actor Steven Seagal has made a surprise appearance in Russia for Vladimir Putin's fifth inauguration ceremony. The Hollywood star arrived at the Kremlin in Moscow for Tuesday's event in a long black robe, wearing his trademark glasses and famous beard. -snip- Seagal, who received his Russian citizenship in 2017, first bonded with the Putin over a shared love of martial arts and the pair have formed a bromance over the years. The phrase ‘like a sitting duck’ comes to mind when watching this. In the below clip, we get to see a Komodo dragon approaching two ducks – the reptile is fast but the ducks actually have plenty of time to get away. For some reason, they leave it too late! The dragon approaches one of the ducks but it flaps its wings furiously and seems to be escaping. Meanwhile, the second duck assumes that it is safe and stays close by – thanking its lucky stars that it was not the target of the reptile’s attention. What a mistake that...

A quiet Sunday (Oct 24) night at Paya Lebar Square turned rowdy after a group of men got themselves into a fight. The brawl at the open space outside the shopping mall was filmed by passers-by and shared on social media over the next two days. In a clip posted on Facebook on Tuesday (Oct 26), the men were throwing punches and kicks at each other or giving chase to those who were running away from the fight. A man was kicked in the buttocks and knocked to the ground. He attempted to flee but his assailant would not let...

Having your name associated with images of puppies in unbearable pain seems pretty bad. So it’s safe to say it’s been a pretty bad week for Dr. Anthony Fauci. A bipartisan group of congressmen wants to hold hearings on $375,000 of taxpayer money that the National Institutes of Allergies and Infectious Diseases invested in scientific research in which Tunisians drugged beagles, locked them up, and had sand flies peck at them and deposit larvae on them. The beagles were “de-barked” — a term I can never forget now. It means that their vocal cords were snipped, to spare Tunisian ears....

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger said “you’re a schmuck” if you don’t wear a mask, just days after photos and video showed prominent Democrats — from Barack Obama to Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) — partying indoors maskless. “You cannot go and not put the mask on because when you breathe, you can infect someone else. And you can infect someone that then gets sick and may die,” the Terminator star and former governor of California said during a discussion with CNN’s Bianna Golodryga and Alexander Vindman. “So this is why I think we all have to...

Disgraced Chinese tai chi master Ma Baoguo has apparently walked away from martial arts after a resurgence in online ridicule over the weekend. The 69-year-old became an overnight celebrity in May when he was knocked down three times in 30 seconds in a fight with50-year-old amateur boxer Wang Qingmin in Zibo, Shandong. Ma’s official Weibo account posted on Sunday for the first time since May, writing that “Ma has returned to a peaceful life, away from the martial arts circle of right and wrong. I hope everyone can understand it”. This came in response to a renewed interest in the...

Chinese MMA fighter Xu Xiaodong has received support from a Shaolin Monk in his bid to expose “kung fu fakery” by pummelling traditional martial arts masters. A video of the fighter known as “Mad Dog” brutally knocking out tai chi master Wei Lei in 10 seconds went viral last year, but his attempts to expose those who “scam” and “brainwash” people with fake martial arts has caused huge debate in China. Xu said he had to go into hiding for several months in 2017 after claiming he was assaulted by two strangers who represented traditional martial arts. The 40-year-old returned...

It is being called “the Great Grasshopper Invasion of 2019”, and it is really freaking out a lot of people in Las Vegas, because most of them don’t understand why this is suddenly happening. Unusually wet weather earlier this year created ideal breeding conditions, and now massive swarms of grasshoppers have descended upon Sin City. According to AccuWeather, there are “millions” of them, and it is being projected that they will be sticking around “for weeks”. The experts are assuring us that there is nothing to be concerned about, and that is probably true, but I have never heard of...

Every morning I wake up before 5am Eastern and switch on the TV to watch the early version of ″Fox & Friends″. Aside from enjoying my breakfast with the lovely Heather Childress, I learn what the ′Big News′ item is for the day ahead. The big topic this morning was a Midnight tweet on Twitter by President Donald Trump. The story is that he allegedly misspelled the word ′coverage′ when he wrote ′covfefe′ instead in a tweet about the negative press. As a Shaolin Master Abbott of the Temple of Trump Fu, I saw the true purpose of the...

I’d been planning to watch Leah Rimini’s Scientology exposé series and finally managed to squeeze in 3 of the episodes between important football games during the holiday weekend. I discovered that the church of Scientology is a billion dollar earth-centric cult ministered by an elite organization (Sea Org) that practices unlicensed psychology for which they charge exorbitant fees (up to $250,000 over the lifetime of an ordinary, non-celebrity member). It was founded by L. Ron Hubbard, a 20th century writer of pulp science fiction before he discovered the “the modern science of mental health” and wrote the NYT blockbuster Dianetics.This...

For centuries, Buddhist nuns have been banned from practicing the deadly martial art of kung fu, but a few years ago the Druk Amitabha Mountain nunnery in Nepal became the home of the world’s first first order of kung fu nuns. Traditionally, the inherently patriarchal Buddhist monastic system has nuns performing only the most meanial of domestic tasks, while the monks can lead prayers and occupy powerful positions. Nuns are perceived as inferior to monks and usually spend their time working in the kitchens and gardens of Buddhist monasteries. Learning ancient martial arts is definitely off limits for them, so...

"If you've ever enjoyed an action-packed Kung Fu film," Morning Edition host David Greene says, "take a moment to thank Sir Run Run Shaw, who passed away Tuesday." There are conflicting accounts about whether Shaw was 106 or 107 at the time of his death. There's no disagreement, though, about his influence on the film industry. The New York Times calls Shaw "the colorful Hong Kong media mogul whose name was synonymous with low-budget Chinese action and horror films — and especially with the wildly successful kung fu genre, which he is largely credited with inventing." Sir Run Run Shaw...

First paragraph excerpt: Of all the moral precepts instilled in Buddhist monks the promise not to kill comes first, and the principle of non-violence is arguably more central to Buddhism than any other major religion. So why have monks been using hate speech against Muslims and joining mobs that have left dozens dead?

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Two teenagers got more than they bargained for when a Washington state woman they attempted to assault turned out to be an expert in martial arts. KATU reports that Priscilla Dang was jogging in her Vancouver neighborhood last Friday when she was approached by two teenagers on their bikes. One pulled in front of her as the other groped her from behind. Fortunately for Dang she had studied Kung Fu for 18 years at a martial arts school owned by her family. She used the training to teach her attacker some manners. "I grabbed him and said,...

Dec 13, 2011 4:10am South Korea Furious Over Illegal Chinese Boats Public anger in South Korea has escalated a day after a Chinese boat captain stabbed a South Korean coast guardsman to death and seriously injured another with a knife. The captain is charged with murder while resisting arrest by coastal police patrolling illegal Chinese fishing boats at the West Sea’s exclusive economic zone. In one indication of South Korean rage, a 34-year-old man smashed his SUV three times into a police bus guarding the Chinese Embassy inSeoul. And South Korean headlines today strongly criticized the increasing number Chinese fishermen...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i74GLQqeKYchttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080151/Plot (from hkcinemagic): A pacifist village is beset by bandits in this martial arts thriller. "Savage Five" hands-down rivals the ornateness of "Kid With The Golden Arm" and the twist-heavy "Five Deadly Venoms". The always great David Chiang plays a lesser version of his Rover character from "Duel Of The Iron Fist", and Ti Lung, looking incredible here, is at his physical best. Accolades to Chen Kuan Tai and Wang Chung in great sympathetic roles, too. A kung fu classic where the actual martial arts display takes a back seat to the mesmerizing story.
