The 400 richest Americans used to pay 30% of their income on the average to Uncle Sam. Today, they pay 18% on the average. The main reason for the drop in their tax rate of some 40% is the tax cuts by George Bush in 2003, taking the rate paid on dividends and capital gains down to 15%.

I know there is a lot of speculation on what will happen in the next few years, but I would really like to know if anyone has a real good sense of what will be going on in a few years. I would like to be prepared, but don't want to over prepare. Is there a real good sense of what is coming in the next few years? I have the ammunition I need, but is it really necessary to stockpile food. Just curious as to what other here are doing. Thanks

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common Sense who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. he will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isnt always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (dont spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting stategies (adults, not kids, are...

Here's proof! The kitties are are loser souses just like your hero President. BTW, your boy really stunk in his speech last night. It was like, "oooooo I'm the modern FDR, JFK, and LBJ all rolled into one. I'll give you whatever you want if you'll forget how my incompetence let people die of thirst on a freeway overpass." What a loser

How do we, as republicans, prevent the spread of bile under the guise of conservatism? I mean, how are we to educate people to our beliefs if we have those crazies among us who refuse to project themselves as intelligent articulate contributors to society? I WANT to see the Republican party grow and flourish... but how can we do that if a few uneducated extremists continue to demolish our good name??? Thoughts?

Prominent conservatives tell HUMAN EVENTS they are troubled by the revelation that Supreme Court nominee John Roberts worked on behalf of Playboy Entertainment Group--the second time in one week information has come to light that Roberts helped a liberal cause. Last Thursday conservatives were hit with the news that Roberts, while a partner at Hogan & Hartson, did pro bono work for gay-rights advocates in the case Romer v. Evans, which challenged a Colorado voter-approved initiative on sexual orientation. Yesterday, HUMAN EVENTS documented Roberts’ similar involvement in a case involving Playboy and its challenge of the Telecommunications Act of 1996,...

Hello there! I am new to this forum. I am from Germany and I am interested in politics. I want to learn more from the US especially besides our papers and TV. So as a start-up my question is: What do you think about WWII? Was everything such simple. Have there been certain interests of the Allies? What was the role of the UK? Was Germany the biggest danger or was it Russia? Many question, I know. :) But more interesting for me: What is your point of view regarding Germany today? How do you consider the current politics of...

I am a newcomer to this posting board, but was directed to the site by a friend after my first experience with the North Texas “Protest Warriors” this past week. I was one of the volunteers at the Dallas City Hall exposition of “Eyes Wide Open,” where they made a noisy appearance. The “Eyes Wide Open” exhibit laid out a pair of combat boots in memory of every fallen American soldier in Iraq, as well as shoes to represent Iraqi civilian casualties. By the time the memorial left Dallas there were 1,499 pairs of boots on display, and the 1,000...

Well I am just posting this because I want to state my opinion on politics from a European point of view, not from Germany, France, UK. I have been going to business school in the US. This have taught me a lot about whats good and whats bad about both my country and the US. You know you always learn something new when you travel. You will find that some of your solutions to solving problems in tour country is suprior and some are inferior. So this is the way I want a country to be runned. I want a...
