Kel-Tec has announced an optical mounting system for their Kel-Tec P17 pistol. The plan appears to have the optic mounted at the factory on a Kel-Tec slide manufactured for the pistol. The entire system would quickly be interchanged with the existing slide. The optical system on the pistol at the Kel-Tec booth is a Crimson Trace, probably a CTS 1550 red dot sight. The suppressor does not come with the system. Above is shown a GemTech Alpine .22 LR suppressor, privately owned by a Kel-Tec employee. It is not certain, at this time, that the Crimson Trace optic will be...

Building guns straight from our dreams, the designers, and engineers at KelTec fascinate us once again with the recent release of the P50 5.7x28mm pistol. Centered around the FN P90 magazine, the P50 features everything you love (or hate) about KelTec. A lot of polymer, stamped metal, exposed screws, high-cap magazines, and loads of fun. The P50 comes standard with a hard plastic carrying case and two ProMag 50 round magazines. A nylon strap with quick detach swivel hardware is also included.

Chicago police have released a photograph of the weapon used in the Highland Park mass shooting on 4 July, where seven people were killed and dozens injured. On Monday evening, police arrested 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” Crimo after an hours-long manhunt around the city north of Chicago. A spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force said the suspect used a rifle “similar to an AR-15” from atop a commercial building and fired into a crowd that had gathered for the parade in Highland Park. On Wednesday night, the police released a photograph of the weapon, reported News Nation.

Adrian Kellgren’s family-owned gun company in Florida was left holding a $200,000 shipment of semi-automatic rifles after a longtime customer in Ukraine suddenly went silent during Vladimir Putin’s invasion of the country. Fearing the worst, Kellgren and his company KelTec decided to put those stranded 400 guns to use, sending them to Ukraine's nascent resistance movement to help civilians fight back against a Russian military that has been repeatedly shelling their apartment buildings, schools, hospitals and hiding places. “The American people want to do something,” said Kellgren, a former U.S. Navy pilot. “We enjoy our freedoms, we cherish those things....

Kel-Tec P15 (aluminum frame) in Authors hand at SHOT Show 2022. U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)-– At SHOT Show I spoke with Kel-Tec engineer Ryan Williams. One of the primary interests was getting a first look at the new Kel-Tec P15 subcompact 9mm pistol. It is said to be an updated version of the P11, which pioneered sub-compact polymer 9mm pistols. The P11 held ten rounds in the magazine, as I recall. I had a P11 for a while, not long after they first came out. For whatever reason, I sold it. A light pistol has more recoil impulse. I opt to carry...

The story of this carbine goes back to 1997, when Kel-Tec introduced the Sub-9 carbine. In general, it was a conventional blow-back gun with the magazine inserted through the hand grip. Designed during the high-capacity-magazine-ban years, it used popular and available pistol magazines, but the Sub-9's claim to fame was its unusual folding form. When folding or collapsible stocks were not legal, the Sub-9 worked around that concept by creating a carbine that folded in half at the chamber, halving its overall length for storage and transport. The folding is initiated by pulling down on the back of the trigger...

CP33 with accessories and 50 rd mag extension, courtesy Dean Weingarten At the Kel-Tec booth at the shot show, I talked to Kel-Tec lead design engineer Toby Obermeit and engineer Ryan Williams. One of the first things I saw was the new extension magazine for the CP33. It holds 50 rounds of .22 LR. It was mentioned last year as a coming product and should be available this summer. The CP33 has been an enormous success story. They are very popular; they have a reputation for both accuracy, reliability, and a good trigger. The CP33 only weighs 24 ounces with a...

If you're into plinking and a Kel-Tec fan, you should have a look at the Kel-Tec PMR-30. Not a new gun, its been around since 2010, but its an ideal pistol for hiking, camping or just toss it into your tackle box. This gun is a .22 caliber and most are usually in a revolver type. Kel-Tec PMR-30 is a full-size pistol chambered in .22 WMR also, considered a full size pistol. Magazine Hi-Capacity One of its main features is the high magazine capacity. The mag holds 30 rounds of .22 WMR. The pistol is slender, the magazine itself may...

Loads of Fun! If you’re a Kel-Tec fan and you like to plink, you should have a look at the Kel-Tec PMR-30. Not a new gun, its been around since 2010, but its an ideal pistol for hiking, camping or just toss it into your tackle box. This gun is a .22 caliber and most are usually in a revolver type. Kel-Tec PMR-30 is a full-size pistol chambered in .22 WMR. Full-size, however, its just a term that the gun industry coined. Light Weight The PMR-30 has a slender slide and a lightweight polymer frame that means unloaded it only...

Everyone loves shooting shotgun slugs. But, not everyone shoots a Keltec KSG-25 shotgun. The Kel-Tec KSG is a bullpup 12-gauge pump action shotgun designed by Kel-Tec. It has two tube magazines which the user of the gun can switch between manually. Each tube holds a total of seven 2.75-inch (70 mm) 12-gauge shotshells or six 3-inch (76 mm) shotshells. Youtuber Hickok45 gets a chance to blast away with slugs from this awesome shotgun in a destructive way. When fully loaded the KSG-25 shotgun can hold 25 shots before reloading. It may not be magazine fed, but this will work getting...

Youtuber James from TFB TV gets to review the Kel Tec Sub 2000 sub-rifle. This model is the 2015-new "Gen2" variant which has several upgrades over its very popular predecessor, which James discusses fully in this video. The SUB2000 folds completely in half and uses popular pistol magazines such as Glock 17 magazines. Because the Generation 2 SUB2000 has a threaded barrel, James gets to try it out with his Advanced Armament Evolution-9 silencer. How does the generation Gen2 stack up to the first generation model?, take a look at the Kel-Tec Sub200 here.

Making a reliable .22 magnum semi-auto has always been a challenge in the industry. Doing so with a pistol is even more difficult. Kel-Tec has had the most successful design with their PMR 30. The PMR 30 has been a success for several years now. Kel-Tec is running at top production capacity of a thousand a month out the door. A lot of people like the idea of a 30 shot, lightweight, .22 magnum pistol. Quite a few like the significant muzzle flash and blast. Reports from industry insiders at the show are that most reliability problems with the...

My smallest concealed carry is a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380. By all accounts a quality pistol. In practice, though, I increasingly dislike it. The long 12-pound trigger pull prevents accurate, consistent shooting. After over a year and many hundreds of rounds, the results are all over the place. By comparison, I can place a six-inch result at 45-feet and at 21-feet, mostly in 3-inch, using either a Sig Sauer P320SC or, almost as well, with a S&W M&P Shield 40. At 21-feet, the S&W 380 Bodyguard is typically 8-12 inches. I like the smaller size of the S&W Bodyguard...

Toby Obermeit, Lead Design Engineer at Kel-Tec, holds a PMR-30 magazine. That magazine holds 30 .22 WMR cartridges. The design is popular, with Kel-Tec shipping 500 of the pistols each week. I talked to Toby at the Shot Show this week. He and Kel-Tec recently obtained a patent on a new magazine design that would create an even larger capacity for the .22LR cartridge. It would fit in a pistol grip, with a preliminary capacity of 33 rounds. Toby said that Kel-Tec CNC has been granted the patent just a few weeks ago. It is specifically aimed at the...

Even if you are not shopping for a Glock 42, this is still an excellent comparison of many single stack pistols on the market. There are almost an overwhelming number of options for a .380 or 9mm concealed carry weapon. Hopefully this video helped you glean some information.

Toby Obermeit shows the new RMR30 Carbine at the Shot Show in Las Vegas Kel-Tec extensively used 3D printing to prototype the new RMR30 carbine, a .22 Magnum that uses the same magazines as the PMR-30 pistol. The carbine has a retractable stock, a 16 inch barrel, and uses a straight blowback action, instead of the delayed blowback of the PMR-30 pistol. The RMR30 required a redesign of almost the entire firearm, even though the magazines are interchangeable. Here is a view of the RMR30 lower receiver alongside a PMR-30 pistol. The changes were prototyped with 3D printing. As...

Maybe to thank them for building the gun that allowed him to lawfully defend himself against a brutal beating which put him in reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm? [video] Maybe, as is speculated, to check out tactical shotguns? Maybe just because he is a private citizen who never has been convicted of anything, and is allowed to do it? Maybe to show that he’s not intimidated by the mobs calling for harm to become of him? Maybe to troll those following him around and watch his every move, like TMZ, which broke the story: Maybe, as is...

It is amazing that one of the most scarce and in demand pistols today is the Kel-Tec PMR-30. You can’t get one, and many gun dealers have even created sign-up lists for customers to get them as they come in. The PMR-30 isn’t a cheap gun. The MSRP is $415, yet the demand for the PMR-30, after literally years, seems unquenchable. But if I asked you to play word association on guns, and my hint was “plastic 22WMR pistol with orange and green fiber optic sights and a 30 round magazine,” what would you say? Nothing, right? Nothing comes to...

3D printed magazines have been successfully used by Kel-Tec for three years, I discovered at the NSSF Shot Show in Las Vegas yesterday. I talked to Tobias Obermeit, Lead Design Engineer at Kel-Tec, one of the most innovative firearms manufacturers in the United States. Mr. Obermeit said that "Without 3D printing, the PMR-30 would not have been developed, especially the magazine." Mr. Obermeit informed me that a prototype magazine would be printed and then be used for 100 to 150 rounds, when they would develop cracks. The magazine would then be discarded and another magazine printed. Tobias Obermeit holding a...
