A 20-year-old man who attempted to kill himself by setting himself on fire at a South Side gas station was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, authorities said Thursday. Police said the man, who was not identified, went to the gas station Wednesday evening in the 1600 block of Somerset Road, purchased $2 worth of gas and then walked to the sidewalk, where he doused himself with the fuel before setting himself on fire.
