Hey folks ………. I‘m old and not well. Unhappily, I am very ignorant about computers. I want to transfer a couple of my old dogs’ pictures to my profile page ……… before it’s too late. But I need some help to do it. The dogs have a certain feeling about me, and I’d like to leave them here for you to know me a bit. Does anyone know how to tell a computer illiterate like me how to pass two dog (.jpg’s) to my profile page???? I’d like to let you all know who I am before it’s too late....

I have a photo that I would like to post. If I understand it correctly, I need to upload the photo somewhere so it can be retrieved by FR. My question is where do people upload photos to? Hopefully, I'm on the right path.
  • Can use of PNG graphic (instead of JPG) cause PowerPoint 2002 to crash?

    05/14/2008 11:06:06 AM PDT · by rudy45 · 10 replies · 191+ views
Today I was working on a PowerPoint file for a client presentation, using PowerPoint 2002 on a computer running XP Home with SP2. I sent them the file, and they sent it back to me, substituting one of their own images, in PNG format, for a JPG image I had used. When I opened the file they sent me, it stayed open for about five seconds, then I got the dreaded "PowerPoint has encountered an error and must close." This happened a few more times. Then, after opening the file one more time, I right clicked on the PNG graphic...
  • Thumbnail doesn't match the actual jpg image file

Within Windows Explorer, we have a folder of jpg images. Right now, we have them displayed as thumbnails. However, something funny is happening. File A thumbnail shows (e.g.) a picture of a tree. However, when we double click on it, and bring up Picture/Fax viewer, we see an image of a person. When we drag that file into PowerPoint, we again see the image of a person. File B thumbnail shows (e.g.) a picture of a person. When we double click on it, or drag it into PowerPoint, we see a different image. What's going on? Seems like the thumbnail...
  • How do I diagonally crop a .jpg image?

    08/09/2006 4:02:22 PM PDT · by rudy45 · 12 replies · 1,402+ views
I have two rectangular .jpg images. I would like to create a composite image that contains both of them. In this new image, the left upper part is from the first .jpg and the right bottom part is from the second. In order to create this image, I believe I need to do a diagonal cropping of the original images. In other words, I want only the top left half of the first image and the bottom right half of the second image. I did a google, but didn't see any tools that allow for this diagonal cropping. Also, the...

SEATTLE--If it is up to Microsoft, the omnipresent JPEG image format will be replaced by Windows Media Photo. The software maker detailed the new image format Wednesday at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference here. Windows Media Photo will be supported in Windows Vista and also be made available for Windows XP, Bill Crow, program manager for Windows Media Photo said in a presentation. "One of the biggest reasons people upgrade their PCs is digital photos," Crow said, noting that Microsoft has been in contact with printer makers, digital camera companies and other unnamed industry partners while working on Windows Media...

Forgent Networks (formally known as VTEL) has posted a press release stating their claim to JPEG and their intention to pursue licensing revenue from companies who use it. They own United States patent 4,698,672 which covers the JPEG compression standard, this patent was created by Compression Labs who Forgent bought back in 1997. The press release specifically mentions digital cameras as well as PDA's, web browsers, phones and scanners. It looks as though Sony has already paid $15 million for the privilege... From The Register: "Forgent's most recent SEC filing states that Sony Corporation paid the company $15 million for...
