Denver is cutting $5 million from public services used by its residents in order to pay for its spiraling illegal immigration costs, with the city’s mayor pinning the blame on Republicans and former President Donald Trump. Mayor Mike Johnston, a Democrat, announced on Friday that hours will be cut at recreation centers, and in-person vehicle registration renewals at the DMV will end, while the planting of spring flower beds will also be stopped to save the much-needed cash. The cuts follow the mayor’s decision last month to divert $25 million from the city budget to the migrant crisis. That plan...

On Tuesday’s edition of NBC’s “Meet the Press Now,” Denver Mayor Mike Johnston stated that the sanctuary city will “hit a capacity at which we just won’t be able anymore to manage the amount of inflow” and “we’re hitting a breaking point at which there’s just not enough volume of work or housing in the city to support this ongoing volume,” and so they’ll have to consider turning away buses of migrants. Host Garrett Haake asked, “[Y]ou’ve said you’ve not considered turning away any of these buses of migrants that are coming to your city. But is there a point...

“Nothingburger” was one of a number of terms used to describe MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s report on Donald Trump‘s 2005 tax return on Tuesday night. In a segment she hyped up on Twitter, Maddow revealed the contents of two pages from Trump’s tax return for that year. The return showed that Trump paid 24 per cent in tax on income of $150 million for the 2005 tax year. That’s about the same amount that a married couple with two incomes totalling around $400,000 might have paid, said David Cay Johnston, the investigative journalist who obtained the return to start with....

As enemy ships fled the Battle of Surigao Strait at daybreak on 25 October 1944, the powerful Japanese Center Force slipped through San Bernadino Strait. It steamed along the coast of Samar directly for the American invasion beachhead at Leyte, hoping to destroy amphibious shipping and American troops on shore. JOHNSTON One of the pilots flying patrol after dawn alert of 25 October 1944 reported the approach of Japanese Center Force. Steaming straight for “Taffy 3” were four battleships, seven cruisers, and at least 12 destroyers. Johnston’s gunnery officer later reported, “We felt like little David without a slingshot.” In...

Labour’s former council leader in Thanet, Iris Johnston, has been caught on camera allegedly ‘helping’ a member of the public to cast their ballot during last Thursday’s election. The votes for Thanet District Council took place on the same day as the General Election, when UKIP leader Nigel Farage was attempting to be elected as the Member of Parliament for South Thanet. ... Johnston’s proximity to the voter may well qualify as compromising the secrecy of the ballot, something that worried the Conservative Party’s Paul Messenger, who took the photo. He told the BBC, “It concerned me that Iris was...

April 6, 1862 (Sunday) Pittsburg Landing, Tennessee. The Confederate Army of Mississippi was exhausted. After three treacherous days of marching through cold mud and rain, all 40,000 of them lay quiet, flat against the soaked ground waiting for dawn and the call to attack. As the dawn cast its first light slivers across the eastern horizon, Generals Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T. Beauregard, first and second in command of the army, listened to the incipient tenors of battle developing cautiously in their front. Johnston sent word for a general advance and rode to lead his men. Beauregard remained to organize...

WHY THIS MATTERS POLITICALLY. There are two games Governor Palin is fighting: one is the battle to take control of her political narrative, the other is taking control of her PERSONAL narrative--and this includes everything surrounding her FAMILY. Having Bristol go on The View is BRILLIANT, and does more for raising Governor Palin's political profile and stature than one may think! With Bristol giving the whole scoop about the details surrounding her pregnancy, she takes the narrative of the "dirty details" and "dirty secrets" away from the mouths of Levi Johnston and rumor-makers in the press, who would try to...

Levi Johnston is appearing on "The Early Show" Friday (Aug. 27), but CBS has released some juicy tidbits from the interview. When asked by "Early Show" correspondent Betty Nguyen if he has any regrets, Johnston says, "I don't really regret anything. But the only thing I wish I wouldn't have done is to put out that apology [to Sarah Palin] 'cause it kind of makes me sound like a liar. And I've never lied about anything. So that's probably the only thing. The rest of the stuff I can live with." Really? He doesn't regret that silly Playgirl photoshoot? Hmm....

A girlfriend's overbearing and manipulative mother, implications of blackmail, a forced breakup, a naked love romp, police interference…no, we simply can't imagine why Sarah and Bristol Palin had a problem with Levi Johnston's music video debut. We also can't imagine what was left on the cutting room floor, seeing as how Levi never meant to nail the Palins and all. E! News has obtained a copy of the treatment for the relationship-ending video he's set to roll camera on next week and it's not exactly what you would call a flattering portrait of his (until recent) home life. -snip- Since...

LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- Bristol Palin, the daughter of former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, and her fiance, Levi Johnston, have split a second time, sources told E! News. The news that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston will wed has become a veritable blank canvas for a rampant press ever eager to bash Sarah Palin and the happy couple, then speculate on whether they're expecting another baby, or whether a reality show about their forthcoming marriage and home life is actually driving their plans. Miss Palin and Mr. Johnston got a press honeymoon that lasted 20 minutes, perhaps.

Vanity Fair published a piece entitled “Me and Mrs. Palin,” in which Johnston “turns a number of commonly held beliefs about the former governor – the purportedly loving wife,
