Molly Kearney — the skit show’s first non-binary cast member — dropped into the guest seat via a harness to slam politicians trying to eliminate healthcare for transgender youth. “As you know, I’ve been wanting to come to Update and talk about trans people. But I have them for a much longer time than that wanted to fly down from the ceiling,” the freshman featured player said. “But I’m not gonna lie, this harness is pretty tight and my groin area is beefed. I’ve been hung up by my genitals for far too long and I’m starting to feel like...

Amy Schneider's phenomenal run on Jeopardy! continues to break records, as she has now become the highest-earning woman in the show's entire history. On Friday night, the engineering manager secured her 18th consecutive victory and increased her total earnings to $706,800, leaving her just one win away from equalling the 19-game streaks of Jason Zuffranieri and David Madden. In regular season earnings, Schneider now sits in fourth place, behind Ken Jennings ($2,520,700, 74 games), James Holzhauer ($2,462,216,...

Dana Zzyym, who uses they/them pronouns, received their document on Wednesday, with their law firm Lambda exclusively sharing a snap of the groundbreaking photo page with DailyMail.com Zzyym, from Colorado, was identified as the recipient by her law firm Lambda Legal on Wednesday, shortly after the State Department announced the document had been issued. Russia's women's powerlifting and bench press world champion Anna Turaeva has told of her humiliation at being asked to prove she is a woman by airline employees while boarding an internal Russian flight recently. Turaeva is a six-time world champion in powerlifting, as well as a ten-time European champion and has held the world, European and Eurasian records in her discipline. She is also a bench press champion and record holder. The stocky, skin-headed Turaeva was flying from St. Petersburg in the very north west of Russia, to the southern town of Krasnodar through Moscow when she experienced an incident...

UnAmericana has this photo of a young Rachel Maddow and in case you haven’t caught the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC lately, TheDC has provided you with the striking contrast.

Why do we -- men and women, gay and straight -- find Rachel Maddow sexy? Daphne Merkin's "Butch Fatale" about the newly minted MSNBC icon, hidden among the overpriced handbag porn and fluffy profiles of last weekend's New York Times T style magazine, is more complicated than it appears. As Merkin writes, it isn't often that mainstream culture celebrates the attractiveness of butch lesbians. Sure, we admire femmes like Portia de Rossi and Lindsay Lohan. But for the most part, lesbians who wear suits, cut their hair short or otherwise don't conform to traditional standards of beauty -- the Ellen...

Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan, said a rueful John F. Kennedy after the Bay of Pigs. George W. Bush knows today whereof his predecessor spoke. For as he prepares to "surge" 20,000 more U.S. troops into a war even he concedes we "are not winning," his erstwhile acolytes have begun to abandon him to salvage their own tattered reputations. Case in point, the neoconservatives. As the Iraq war heads into its fifth year, more than half a dozen have confessed to Vanity Fair's David Rose their abject despair over how the Bushites mismanaged the war...

Between Sept. 11, 2001, and his State of the Union Address in 2002, George W. Bush had America in the palm of his hand. But in that speech, Bush blew it. Singling out Iran, Iraq and North Korea as state sponsors of terror seeking weapons of mass destruction, Bush yoked them together in an "axis of evil" and issued this ultimatum: "I will not wait on events, while dangers gather. I will not stand by, as peril draws closer and closer. The United States of America will not permit the world's most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world's...

Few will know this genetic truth, because the 5-year-old's parents and school administrators have agreed that it's in his best interest to blend in as a female. Mental health professionals have diagnosed Pat - not his real name - with gender dysphoria, a condition in which a person believes that he or she is the opposite gender. After two years of examination, they have determined that he is not simply effeminate or going through a phase. "Gender dysphoria can take place during a fetus' development in the womb," said noted gender specialist and sexologist Marilyn Volker, Ph.D., of Miami. While...

Broward County schools' progressive policy on transgendered children will be tested by the admission to kindergarten this fall of a boy who believes that he's a girl. BY ROBERTO SANTIAGO rsantiago@MiamiHerald.com One little girl entering Broward County kindergarten this fall is actually a boy. Few will know this genetic truth, because the 5-year-old's parents and school administrators have agreed that it's in his best interest to blend in as a female. Mental health professionals have diagnosed Pat -- not his real name -- with gender dysphoria, a condition in which a person believes that he or she is the opposite...

That demagogues and agitators are exploiting those cartoons of Mohammed to advance a war of civilizations and expel Europeans from the Middle East seems undeniable. But that does not excuse the paralyzing stupidity of that Danish paper in running those cartoons -- or the arrogant irresponsibility of European newspapers in plastering those cartoons all over their front pages. The storm first broke last September, when Jyllands-Posten published 12 caricatures of Mohammed, including a lampoon of the Prophet with a terrorist bomb as a turban. In the Islamic faith, any depiction of the face of Mohammed is forbidden. The Danish paper...

Her driver's license indicates she's a man, but Linda Gail Carter insists she's a woman. On Tuesday, a judge ordered Carter to undergo genetic testing to determine her true sex as part of her lawsuit to dissolve her marriage to another woman. Following a request by Carter's wife, Constance D. Gonzales, state Family Court Judge Lisa Millard ordered the testing and placed a gag order in the case. In another twist, one of Carter's former employees claimed Carter has been using her former male name and dressing as a man. The employee claimed he and his wife were married in...
