A special judge in Monroe County, Indiana, has denied a request by Planned Parenthood to broaden the medical exceptions under which abortions would be allowed under state law. Indiana’s abortion law, SB 1, protects nearly all preborn children in the state from abortion. Abortion is only permitted in cases of rape and incest, if there is a “lethal fetal anomaly” before 20 weeks, and when “abortion is necessary when reasonable medical judgment dictates that performing the abortion is necessary to prevent any serious health risk to the pregnant woman or to save the pregnant woman’s life.” The law also requires...

One day after being charged with aggravated sexual battery, a longtime Tennessee pastor died by suicide in a hospital bathroom, authorities said. David Mark Baker Sr., 57, was serving at Family Baptist Church in Columbia, had been a jail chaplain, and once ran for Maury County mayor. On Sept. 10, Baker was charged with aggravated sexual battery in a case that involved a minor, according to Sheriff Bucky Rowland. Baker, released from jail on $200,000 bond, was scheduled to appear in court next month. Columbia Police Chief Jeremy Alsup said Baker walked into a local emergency room on Sept. 11,...

Anyone who’s ever looked deeply into the well of human sexual depravity will recognize that all deviance is measured against the standard of true normalcy: monogamous binary heterosexuality. It is a universal human norm, known in Christendom as the One-Flesh Paradigm, based on Genesis 1:27 and 2:24. Faithful Jews and Christians adhere to this standard, or at least aspire to do so. The sinfulness/harmfulness of any given sexual act, inclination or relationship is judged by God and His law based upon its degree of its deviance from the standard. The acts, inclinations and relationships most similar to the standard are...

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is plowing ahead with his plan to avert a government shutdown despite GOP opposition that is large enough to tank the effort, setting the stage for a potentially embarrassing vote on the House floor that will foil the Speaker’s funding strategy. At least six Republicans, including hard-line conservatives and defense hawks, have said they will vote against Johnson’s government funding gambit, which pairs a six-month continuing resolution (CR) with a Trump-backed bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote. Republicans can only afford to lose four of their members if all Democrats vote “no” and there is...

AKRON, Ohio — The Republican Party once chose a presidential nominee who was successful in business but had never held political office. Who went from being a Democrat to a Republican, but was a maverick in his new party. He would often speak off the cuff, was not much of a churchgoer, had what one historian called “a magnetic personality” and was not always faithful as a husband. He was definitely a dark horse when he began his campaign against veteran candidates but won the GOP nomination in defiance of the political establishment, with what one observer called “a tendency...

Walt & Lillian Disney with Richard Nixon and his family at Disneyland, 1959 We tend to think of Hollywood as a bastion of leftism, and rightly so. Books like Ron Radosh’s Red Star Over Hollywood demonstrate the deep-seated left-wing dominance of the entertainment industry. Even with the leftism prevalent in Hollywood’s Golden Age, many unabashed conservatives found success without compromising their principles, including one of the most creative minds in the business — Walt Disney.Several biographers and writers that I’ve read have tried to declare that Walt Disney was apolitical, but I find this conclusion not to be true....

Review: The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes By Lil Tuttle What happens if government intervenes in a nation’s economic crisis and makes it worse? Amity Shlaes tells such a story in her book, The Forgotten Man: a New History of the Great Depression (HarperCollins). School children are generally taught this standard history lesson about the Great Depression: The 1920s was a period of false growth, high living and low morals brought to a halt by the 1929 stock market crash. The crash led to crippling inflation and the nation’s economic collapse. President Franklin D. Roosevelt took control and ushered...

On Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “OutFront,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who appeared in his personal capacity, responded to a question on if the Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, will ever support a ceasefire and arms embargo on Israel to win votes by stating that Harris is “behind peace. She’s one of the first people to have spoken out in the administration about a ceasefire. It has to be the kind of ceasefire that comes with the hostages coming home,” And has “been very focused on outreach to those who are taking to the streets, because...

For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed. Just one week has passed since the Democratic Party ousted President Joe Biden from the 2024 ticket and essentially coronated Vice President Kamala Harris to be his successor — and while questions are still mounting about Biden’s true condition and why he ultimately agreed to step away from the campaign, there are bigger questions...

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Touting President Joe Biden’s ‘Investing in America’ agenda, and speculation that he may be selected as a VP candidate, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will visit Central Indiana next week. The exact location of the visit to Central Indiana is not mentioned in a press release issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation, other than it is a ‘future EV battery manufacturing facility in Indiana.’ Buttigieg is the former mayor of South Bend, Ind.

Harrowing footage captured an armed man being shot dead in Indianapolis as he yelled at a driver in a suspected road-rage incident. The footage shared on social media allegedly shows the moment Gavin Dasaur, 29, quickly approaches a white Chevy pickup truck on Tuesday evening and attempts to punch the driver while holding what appears to be a handgun. The driver tries to smack the punch away, with Dasaur shifting the weapon to his left hand as he appears to berate the driver while pointing at them repeatedly with his right hand. The driver then points their own gun at...

An Indiana State Prison (ISP) employee has been caught allegedly trying to smuggle contraband into the facility. A nurse at the jail is accused of trying to smuggle cocaine and marijuana inside a frozen bowl of lasagna. Court documents say 46-year-old Regina Davis reported for work on July 3 and had her property scanned as a standard procedure before being allowed in the facility when security officers felt something was odd about the image of her bowl of lasagna. After chipping into the frozen pasta layers, two packages containing 84 grams of cocaine and 49 grams of marijuana were discovered...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Many in west Louisville and Harrison County, Indiana, were left to pick up the pieces and damage left behind from tornadoes that blew through the area Thursday. "The tornado came without warning," Mayor Craig Greenberg said. Louisville Metro Emergency Services set up a reception center Friday at Shawnee Baptist Church to help residents who've been impacted.
