Marjorie Taylor Greene's abrupt decision to resign from Congress is drawing scrutiny after it emerged that her chosen departure date falls just two days after her federal pension becomes fully vested.
The timing places the 51-year-old Georgia Republican past the five-year service threshold required for lawmakers to qualify for lifetime pension benefits under federal rules.
Greene announced Friday that she is leaving Congress and will step down on January 5, 2026.

I can’t remember how to change the size of a picture. Been a long time.
It’s a pretty good benefit for them.
Immediate, full pension eligibility:
Age 62+ with at least 5 years of service;
She is an ugly woman both outside and inside. Very unattractive face in my opinion.
When you paste in the link, look for the numbers, those are the size of the picture. You can edit them at that time.
At $1250 a month I doubt it’s the driving force. She’s already made millions so the $1250 will cover Starbucks visits. Maybe.
I have no use for quitters. Finish your damn job the voters sent you there for.
Thank you!
Can’t blame her. Anyone would do the same.
Hell hath no fury...
Nothing worse than her voice and accent IMO. Taking a GOP vote out of the House for approximately 6 months is IMO unforgivable. If you run for a 2-year term, you should serve a 2-year term.
Most millionaires will still stop and pick up a dime on the street.
Marge’s definition of America First ...
America’s taxpayers paying her Cadillac health plan and pension FIRST!
As if there is anyone who would do differently.
I'm kinda mixed on this.
Quitting now allows for both a special election and the winner to run as an incumbent in 2026.
Hoping, of course, the winner is a MAGA Republican and we all know this isn't a sure thing.
It’s still scummy. She could’ve stayed till the end of her term but like McCarthy, wanted out immediately, leaving an unnecessary vacancy.
On the bright side, the special election will enable an incumbent to be running during the midterms. Better odds a Republican will win the special election
Good for her.
I have no use for quitters. Her concern for her district is laughable.
The responsible thing to do would have been to stay, though not seek re-election.
She host whatever shred of credibility she had.
