James Best, best known as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on The Dukes of Hazzard, has died, at age 88. Best was a wonderfully versatile actor within a self-imposed narrow range—a Southerner who could be wily or stupid, sometimes both and a bit more. He was a gifted musician and acting teacher as well as an actor. The body of one of two men chased after a violent robbery at a small grocery Thursday night was found this morning at the Interstate 20-U.S. 61 interchange and authorities were trying to determine whether he was shot, jumped or fell from an overpass. A second suspect, described, like the dead man, as Hispanic, was being sought by police in the robbery and assault at La Chiquita grocery store, 4002 U.S. 61 South, which triggered the chase and shootout. Waite Park, Minn. (WCCO) A 24-year-old St. Cloud, Minn. man is accused of stealing a Krispy Kreme donut delivery truck and driving it while drunk, police said Friday. David Scott Walkes was booked and arraigned in Waite Park, Minn. Friday morning on DWI and felony theft charges, police said.
