Waite Park, Minn. (WCCO) A 24-year-old St. Cloud, Minn. man is accused of stealing a Krispy Kreme donut delivery truck and driving it while drunk, police said Friday.
David Scott Walkes was booked and arraigned in Waite Park, Minn. Friday morning on DWI and felony theft charges, police said.
Waite Park police were called to Cash Wise Foods just before 1:30 a.m. Friday in response to a report of a stolen vehicle, Deputy Chief Mark Arnold said in a release.
The Krispy Kreme driver told police his truck was stolen. He told police he left the keys in the ignition while he was delivering donuts inside the store.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Department located the abandoned truck at Interstate 94 and Highway 15.
Deputies later found the suspect attempting to flag down passing vehicles on the interstate.
The suspect told police he took the truck and abandoned it, Arnold said.
Walkes was being held in a Stearns County jail following his arraignment.

.."We got that low life donut thief, Chief...and ALL the chocolate ones are still on the truck, 10-4"
"The suspect told police he took the truck and abandoned it." Can that be used against him in court? What a dumb ass. That could have been the perfect crime!
Do you know hte stories this guy could have told at work Monday morning? Everyone wondering where the 4,357 donuts came from.
My understanding is over 24 police cars answered that call .... :):)
I'm sure all available ground and air units were scrambled, and vacations cancelled, to retrieve that one.
Fat AND drunk is no way to go through life.
Stealing a donut truck? A dumb crook story for sure. Mr. Walkes is lucky the cops took him to jail in one piece!
All OUT Panic spell, much
'Drunkin' donuts.

We have the vehicle in sight and are in pursuit...
Too funny. Hahhahaha.
I sympathize with the poor sorry so-and-so. There have been so many times when I was irresistably tempted to steal a Krispy Kreme truck myself, and only the fact that I was insufficiently drunk prevented me from doing so.
LOL
Surprised the thief was drinking. Seems more like the action of someone under the influence of Mary Jane.
Doooonuuuttttttsssssss!!
