Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested this week that NATO welcoming Ukraine into the alliance could halt the “hot stage” of the war, while Russia would temporarily keep the territory it overtook. “If we want to stop the hot phase of the war, we need to take under the NATO umbrella the territory of Ukraine that we have under our control,” Zelensky said in an interview Friday with SkyNews. “We need to do it fast. And then on the [occupied] territory of Ukraine, Ukraine can get them back in a diplomatic way,” he added. Back in early July during a summit...

If it seems you’re getting more and more messages from co-workers, friends or attendees at that family barbecue about a positive COVID-19 test, it’s not in your head. While COVID-19 hospitalizations are still far lower than previous years, they’re steadily trending up this summer — both statewide and in the Capital Region. “We have seen a jump this month, but the good thing is we’re nowhere where we were two years ago,” Albany County Department of Health Interim Commissioner Maribeth Miller told the Times Union. With at-home testing prevalent, officials now rely on hospitalization rates to track the disease. Last...

Several other Western states plus the Northeast are also strongly favored to see above-average heat. The only exception to...

A March uptick in the consumer price index (CPI) to an annual 3.5-percent increase could push interest rate cuts back from their predicted start date in June. The CME FedWatch forecasting algorithm put the probability of a June cut at just 21 percent Wednesday morning. The algorithm has higher odds for a cut than a pause at the rate’s current range of...

Anyone that’s ever enjoyed a cold slice of pizza for breakfast knows that food doesn’t need to be hot or fresh to be really, really good. In fact, a lot of dinners that are intended to be eaten warm actually taste better the next day as a cold meal straight from the fridge. Anything with lots of sauce and cheese and spices is a sure bet for leftover success—no reheating necessary. This isn’t just an opinion, though. There’s actual science to back it up! According to the Institute of Food Technologists, your leftovers continue to have chemical reactions that create...
