Anyone that’s ever enjoyed a cold slice of pizza for breakfast knows that food doesn’t need to be hot or fresh to be really, really good. In fact, a lot of dinners that are intended to be eaten warm actually taste better the next day as a cold meal straight from the fridge. Anything with lots of sauce and cheese and spices is a sure bet for leftover success—no reheating necessary.
This isn’t just an opinion, though. There’s actual science to back it up! According to the Institute of Food Technologists, your leftovers continue to have chemical reactions that create new flavor molecules as they chill overnight. It’s not just in your imagination—that cold slice of leftover eggplant parmesan really is more flavorful than it was when it came out of the oven.

Merry Christmas to all!
Beef Stew
Lasagne
Brat’s
Most of those foods, except pizza and fried chicken, I would have to reheat to enjoy.
For me, I would eat cold meatloaf in a sandwich, but most everything else on the list would be better, heated.
Chili - no
Chicken Stir-fry - no
Meatloaf - yes
Enchiladas - no
Quiche - yes
Fried Chicken - yes
Ratatouilli - never ate it
Pizza - yes
Tortilla Espanola - never ate it
Eggplant Parmesan - no
They should be in the refrigerator overnight.
So I put them in the microwave until they smell like food again. Oder is part of the enjoyment of taste.
turkey should be on that list
Same here.
I truly am looking forward to my cold leftover meatloaf on a sandwich for breakfast the next morning, even while I’m making the meatloaf for dinner (Emeril Lagasse’s Mighty Meaty Meatloaf recipe is my go to).
I will order extra pepperoni and onion pizza so that I’m sure there will be leftover cold pizza for breakfast. The same with ordering fried chicken, which I usually get from Publix grocery store. They do a good job with it.
Another good leftover for breakfast is American Goulash, I like it reheated though in the microwave with a slice of White American cheese melted over it.
One on that list I can’t believe I’ve never eaten and it looks so delicious (now that I’ve looked it up because of this post), is the Tortilla Espinosa. I can’t wait to give it a try now. I’ll make that tomorrow night.
Turkey - especially in sandwiches.
Nice list...
Cold turkey sandwiches the day after Thanksgiving... (or Christmas.) cold cornbread dressing on the sandwich and some leftover cranberry sauce and a little lettuce and mayo... That’s cold leftovers from the yummy yum world.
Cold pizza is disgusting. And microwaving is is worse.
Same here, pizza and fried chicken are the only two I would like cold.
But I’d still reheat those two unless I lacked the means.
All turkey meat should go straight to the dogfood factory.
Cold pizza and stale, warm beer.
Breakfast of Champions?
Or second place losers/hungover drunks....

**I do leftovers. Food is never wasted. Science!**

What, you don’t find that layer of cold congealed grease on chili appetizing? I don’t, either.
Ok, cold pizza, fried chicken and meatloaf but only on a sandwich. A hard pass on the rest.
Sorry, I would eat none of those without reheating (in the oven. No microwave)
I would agree but add a cold meatloaf & mayo sandwich.
