John Christopher Ludwick died Wednesday morning at a Sarasota County hospital after being knifed by a woman he knew, North Port police said in a Facebook post. The 32-year-old victim was trying to kidnap the woman as she got out of her car, cops said. Ludwick was stabbed during the ensuing scuffle and fled the woman’s driveway.

Authorities discovered human remains behind a house in Aruba, a grisly find that may finally crack the mystery surrounding a young woman’s disappearance 12 years ago. The remains, discovered following a renewed 18-month probe, are being tested to see if they’re a DNA match with Natalee Holloway, the Alabama teenager who went missing while on a graduation trip in 2005, her father, Dave Holloway, and investigator T.J. Ward revealed on “Today” on Wednesday.

At a vigil to honor her slain son, NOPD officer Daryle Holloway's mom asked the hundreds of people gathered to honor her son's life to pray for his accused killer's mom and family. "I can't imagine what that woman is going through," Olander Holloway said Tuesday (June 23). "I have no hard feelings in my heart for them, and I want you all to pray for her." Daryle Holloway, a 22-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department, died Saturday after he was shot by a man he was transporting to Orleans Parish Prison. Travis Boys, who escaped after the...

The plot thickens in the story of ex-New England Patriots player Brian Holloway ... who went ballistic after his New York home was trashed by a horde of rowdy, drunken teen vandals. Turns out the house was already in disrepair and in FORECLOSURE, and his neighbors smell a rat. TMZ has learned ... Holloway owes a whopping $1,006,348.80 on the house ... it appears he was delinquent on paying his mortgage and the bank then demanded payment of the entire balance. Brian hasn't lived in the home for a long time -- he's in Florida -- and neighbors tell us...

A former NFL player’s home was broken into and thoroughly trashed by teenagers in upstate New York over Labor Day weekend. Brian Holloway, a three time all-pro lineman for the New England Patriots, arrived to his second home in Stephentown on Tuesday to find it covered in urine, graffiti and empty cups and booze bottles. While he and his family were in Florida, the area high schoolers broke into the $1.5 million house and then with the help of Twitter quickly attracted hundreds of their peers from miles around. Now Holloway, himself a father of 8, has used the same...

An extradition treaty signed this week between the Netherlands and Peru could open the door for Joran Van der Sloot to return to his native country if convicted in the death of a 21-year-old Peruvian woman. A spokesman with Peru's foreign ministry, Gonzalo Portals Zubiate, said Friday that the treaty -- which allows some Dutch nationals sentenced to time in Peru to serve their sentences in Europe, with the inverse for Peruvians convicted in Holland -- has nothing to do with Van der Sloot, specifically. Still, the suspect's attorney acknowledged it could affect him... Van der Sloot is being held...

Natalie Holloway murder suspect, Joran van der Sloot, has been ominously quiet for quite a while. That's not surprising since he's been languishing in Peru's Miguel Castro Castro prison since June awaiting the completion of the investigation of Stephany Flores's murder. On January 15th however, Van der Sloot suddenly decided to lunge back into the headlines by stabbing a guard and then attempting to hold him hostage in a crazy, and therefore unsuccessful attempt to break out of prison. According to the National Enquirer, Van der Sloot suddenly "freaked out" when guard, Luis Gavancho, brought a tray of food into...

Aruba: Jawbone not that of Natalee Holloway SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - The prosecutor's office in Aruba says a jawbone with a tooth recently found on a beach does not belong to missing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. The agency says that an analysis based on dental records rules out that the bone fragment came from her. It says forensic scientists in the Netherlands conducted a detailed examination. Officials said Tuesday that the jawbone is human. It is unclear whom it belongs to. The Mountain Brook, Alabama, student was 18 when she disappeared while on a high school graduation trip...

THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Dutch forensic experts are testing a piece of bone found on the Caribbean island of Aruba to see if it comes from missing American teenager Natalee Holloway, a spokeswoman said Tuesday. Experts first will establish whether the bone is human before comparing its DNA to that of Holloway, said Netherlands Forensic Institute spokeswoman Inge Oevering. Holloway, then 18, disappeared in 2005 while on a high school graduation trip to Aruba. Her remains have never been found, despite extensive police searches. If the bone turns out to be from Holloway, it would be the first concrete evidence...

On Memorial Day, 2010, Joran Van der Sloot murdered a young woman in a Peru hotel (no “alleged” needed in this case; he confessed). And as the whole world knows, the grisly crime occurred exactly five years after he killed the even younger Natalee Holloway on a beach in Aruba. Anchormen, commentators, and regular folks at the water cooler are talking about how avoidable this all was. If only the Aruba police and prosecutors had done their jobs better, five years ago… or if only the many private investigators and researchers had dug up some hard evidence in the intervening...

AMSTERDAM – A Dutch newspaper that interviewed Joran van der Sloot in his prison cell in Lima, Peru, said Monday he has retracted his confession to the killing of a young woman there. De Telegraaf said the 22-year-old Dutchman claims he only signed papers admitting killing Stephany Flores because he was intimidated by police and had been promised he would be transferred to the Netherlands if he confessed. "I was very scared and confused during the interrogations and wanted to get away," the paper quoted him as saying. "In my blind panic, I signed everything, but didn't even know what...
