A pair of switches that control the fuel supply to the engines were set to "cutoff" moments before the crash of Air India Flight 171, according to a preliminary report from India's Air Accident Investigation Bureau released early Saturday in India. A total of 260 people were killed when the Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed shortly after it took off from Ahmedabad last month. Two Oregon men who ventured into the woods of Washington state on a Christmas Eve hunt for Sasquatch have been found dead, authorities confirmed on Saturday. The 59-year-old and 37-year-old, whose names have not yet been released, tragically failed to return from their expedition, sparking a frantic three-day search across the rugged Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The men's deaths are believed to be the result of exposure to the harsh winter conditions. With no signs of foul play or injury, authorities speculate that the pair's lack of preparation for the extreme weather may have led to their deaths. The Sheriff's...

This is not a matter of reading between the lines. The government has been explicit about its goal. One of the things most associated with Great Britain is the pub culture. Seemingly, every novel has a scene in a pub or tavern where the locals gather, not to carouse or drink themselves into a silent, depressed stupor, but, instead, to come together as a community. It is a watering hole offering beer and whiskey—or, as some might say, the very water of life itself. But the UK’s new Labour government is not on board with this ancient culture. And importantly,...

The event, funded by student fees, faced low attendance, documented by footage shared by the Young America's Foundation, revealing rows of empty seats at the auditorium where the 26-year-old was set to take the stage. Mulvaney, sporting a Penn...

Illustration: Sarah Grillo/Axios The nation's craft beer market is at an inflection point. Driving the news: Independent brewery production remained flat at 24.3 million barrels in 2022, according to an annual report released Tuesday from the Brewers Association, the industry's trade group. The number of new breweries opening decreased for the second consecutive year, while the closings rate increased to 3%. Did anyone really show up for that super scary far-right rally on Saturday? The “Justice for J6” rally was supposed to be ‘insurrection part II: endgame.’ The barricades were set up again around the US Capitol. The police were everywhere; they were decked out in full-blown riot gear. They were prepared this time. They were prepared…for the media? Yeah, typical elite media whiff here. There were more media members than actual protesters. The threat was exaggerated. The liberal media may not know this yet, but even prior to January 6—the far right in America is…not big. There are probably more...

This is the path of national suicide, as Sam Dorman reports for Fox News: The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is moving to eliminate all accelerated math options prior to 11th grade, effectively keeping higher-achieving students from advancing as they usually would in the school system. (snip) "[A]s currently planned, this initiative will eliminate ALL math acceleration prior to 11th grade," he said. "That is not an exaggeration, nor does there appear to be any discretion in how local districts implement this. All 6th graders will take Foundational Concepts 6. All 7th graders will take Foundational Concepts 7. All 10th...

From what I’ve read the Imported Red Fire Ant species got to my hometown about the same time I did. And fire ants are not going to be gone from Baton Rouge or Bovina when I am. Ants are just a fact of life and there is no simple surefire ant solution. However, there is such a thing as the Museum of Novel Fire Ant Control Methods and Products. I just can’t find out if it is a true physical facility or merely cyber located. It is not definite as to what entity is its founder and curator, but I’m...

Talk about disenfranchisement. In California, seems it's not enough that foreign nationals who've just spilled over the U.S. border from the south can get free education, free health care, free housing, and all that — now it looks as though locals may just find themselves lorded over by foreign nationals with zero loyalty to the United States making policy, now that Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed SB225, a bill to allow illegals to "serve" (and be paid) on state boards that make policy in California. If your interests conflict with theirs, too bad about yours: According to the San Francisco...
