The Official Preliminary Report is out, and confirms the fuel cutoff switch directly after takeoff: both switches found in in the off positions.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
where does that cut the fuel off? Could there have been enough fuel “in the lines” to begin a takeoff?
They were cut off very shortly after takeoff. AN INTENTIONAL ACT.
Is the fuel cutoff switch right next to the retract landing gear switch?
Does the flight data recorder say the same thing? I suppose it’s not physically impossible that it happened during the crash. Not very likely, but I’d want to see agreement between their physical position and what the recorder says.

Agreed, however it appears there was an SB on that switch type.
This was a Boeing aircraft and the Wall Street Journal might be interested in helping...
Another big jet murder suicide.
The fuel switch for each engine is spring-loaded, meaning it’s not flicked on and off like a light switch. The switch must be grasped, pulled up, moved to the opposite position, and released. The released switch then descends and seats into place. Nigh unto impossible for the both fuel cut off switches to have moved by incidental contact.
In my earlier days, when I ran engines ( B737,B767,B777) those cut off switches are located on the pedestal, just below the throttles, one must pull up and back to off.
A deliberate movement, one engine then the next.
Was one of the front-seaters a shaheed?
Oh my!
“A preliminary report into the Air India crash last month finds that both fuel control switches were moved to cut-off position - a step that usually turns off the engines - moments before the plane crashed
“Cockpit voice recording shows confusion between the two pilots. One is heard asking his colleague why he “did the cut-off” - and the other pilot said he did not do so, the report says.”

It doesn’t matter if there is fuel in the lines. When the fuel pump gets cut off, the pressure is eliminated. Jet engines need fuel injection to work.

Agreed.
NOPE!
No, the thrust levers which are very large are between. They are not close (and there are two). One question, could the cutoff be left off when the plane starts. I think not. But if not then this is simply sabotage. You can hear one pilot ask the other why the switches are off.
The cut off switches were changed back to “On” by one of the pilots just before the plane crashed, but it was too late.
Would be interesting to know if anyone was in the jump seat..
