Has there been a president in living memory who relishes a fight more than Trump? I don't think so. That is a major reason why he remains popular with conservatives and has seen his favorability ratings rise. Sure, I like President Trump's actions on job-killing regulations, tax relief, border security, energy independence, military funding, judicial appointments, and so on. But what really invigorates me and millions of other EverTrumpers is that he is fearless -- impervious to attacks by his adversaries and merciless in responding to them. Trump is an oddity: a Republican president who stands up to the Left's...

Life Portrait of Ronald Reagan (C-Span video) It's been 10 years since President Reagan went home to be with the Lord. I remember watching every minute of the coverage after he passed. I was looking for the video when Brian Lamb visited the Reagan ranch. Although this is from the ranch it's not the one I was looking for. If anyone can find that video, please post it to this thread.

The first time I saw Chris Christie on television, shortly after he became governor of New Jersey, my immediate reaction was, "My Gosh! A Talking Republican!" It was almost like seeing a talking giraffe or a talking salamander. Technically speaking, Republicans do talk, but talking is definitely not their strong suit. Nor do they seem to have put a lot of thought into what they say or how they say it. The net result is that articulate Democrats can get away with the biggest lies, without any serious rebuttal from most Republicans. I have not heard any Republican official or...

As soon as former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson announced that he was mulling over a run for the presidency, pundits and voters alike began to announce comparisons between Thompson and Ronald Reagan. Now that Thompson is in the race with both feet, it is worthwhile to examine more carefully ways in which he is or is not somehow parallel to Reagan. It is important to note at the outset that Republicans have to come to grips with the facts that there was only one Reagan and that he was not perfect (though he was very, very good). Constant seeking after...

I have been touting Fred Thompson since January 2007, and it has been several months since I have written an article about him. Among other things, I have noted that Thompson antagonizes no one and would unite the Republican Party – no one really had anything bad to say about him in the New Hampshire debates, and the closest anyone came was John McCain, a close friend of Thompson. I have noted that Fred got the gay marriage issue precisely right – a constitutional amendment which does not require states to give full faith and credit to gay marriages is...

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Fred Thompson let another silk drift gently to the straw-covered ground of the Iowa State Fair on Friday as he continued his Dance of the Seven Veils toward declaring his candidacy for president. “If things play out the way I’ve got in mind, we’ll be seeing a bit more of each other” in the next couple of months, Thompson said at the end of a low-key, 20-minute speech to a crowd of supporters, the media and the curious. It wasn’t anywhere near the outright declaration of candidacy the Fredheads in the throng were hoping for, but...

It is alleged that Groucho Marx, upon once being invited to join a country club, declined on the grounds that he refused to belong to any group that would have Groucho Marx as a member. I think of that wisecrack every time I hear a liberal try to make a case for America's surrendering its sovereignty to the United Nations. As long ago as 1964, in his famous "Rendezvous with Destiny" speech, Ronald Reagan pointed out that one could muster a two-thirds vote on the floor of the General Assembly among nations representing less than a tenth of the world's...

Ronald Reagan Fooled Us Christopher Ruddy Monday, June 21, 2004 When Ronald Reagan passed away on June 5, 2004, he fooled us once again. Typical of Ronald Reagan, he didn’t do it by trickery or deception, just by being himself as others misunderstood or underestimated him. So, just how did he fool us in his passing? Well, consider how long he hung around. Remember, it was 1994 when Reagan first gave notice of his Alzheimer’s in an open letter to the American people. Almost from that day, the establishment began writing his obituary. I can remember some five years ago...

Posted on Wed, Jun. 16, 2004 Black businessman looks for GOP votes in Senate race DICK PETTYS Associated Press ROCKMART, Ga. - Herman Cain is a self-made man with a rags-to-riches background and a yen to start a political career at the top, never mind the long march most candidates make through steppingstone offices to get a shot at the U.S. Senate. It's not a unique biography for a Republican candidate in Georgia and it invites comparisons to Guy Millner, the wealthy businessman who seemed ill-suited to the campaign trail and three times led Georgia Republicans to electoral defeats in...

The atmosphere was cheerful, almost festive, among those arriving early for Ronald Reagan's memorial service at the National Cathedral, just as it was on the lines of those waiting to view his flag-draped casket at the Reagan Library and the Capitol. Then, 40 minutes before the ceremony, when the achingly beautiful music began, people sat quietly and somberly, some with tears in their eyes. With his interment on the opposite coast, on a gentle hill overlooking the Pacific, the question now is: How will history judge his stewardship? Perhaps more than any moment in last week's long goodbye, the service...

As I watched the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan, the camera panned the audience in Washington's National Cathedral. Those who came to show their respects to the Gipper encompassed a wide spectrum. Some were long-time friends; some were former adversaries; others were just children when President Reagan lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. But all shared one thing in common: respect. President Reagan was a man who earned the respect of the world. He didn't earn that respect because he was a nice guy, although I'm sure he was. He didn't earn the respect because of his looks, although his...

President Reagan, oh but we need you now. I knew this day was coming. I thought that because my hero. President Ronald Reagan, had been out of the public eye for years due to that terrible disease known as Alzheimer's his passing would somehow be easier. I was wrong. I was sitting at a baseball game in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when I got an email bulletin from Fox News announcing President Reagan's death. It took my breath away. My eyes misted up. I informed my 16 year old son and several people around us overheard. One, my cousin, who I...

I just watched an interview on Foxnews channel with a guy from the History Channel. Brigitte Quinn interviewed the guy who did the special. I believe they said that Thursday night at 9 p.m. eastern on the History channel they are going to be doing a special on Ronald Reagan. This is a new one. They interviewed Nancy Reagan,George Bush Sr, and George W, Secret Service Agents, and Gorby. They also are going to show more of his writings. He was a brilliant writer.
