A Florida man was arrested on fraud charges in July after allegedly registering a 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo that was stolen from the Sarasota Classic Car Museum. The man allegedly used the VIN number from another vintage 911 out of a California salvage yard to register the car, police records show. WELLBORN, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman was accused of stealing a fire truck and impersonating a firefighter earlier this month. The Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office said Belinda Delores Waugh, 44, allegedly took off with a fire truck on July 15 after spending the night at the Wellborn Volunteer Fire Department station. When the fire chief visited the station to respond to a call, he discovered the truck was gone. Peel police have arrested 15 people following an investigation into an auto theft ring that was allegedly stealing fully loaded commercial vehicles and then selling their cargo to unwitting buyers. Police say the investigation, dubbed “Project Big Rig,” began in March, and was a joint-forces operation between Peel Regional Police, York Regional Police, the Toronto Police Service, Halton Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police. “As a result of this investigation, six locations were targeted within the GTA and warrants were executed,” said Det. TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) - A Hillsborough County building inspector was seriously injured when he tried to stop a woman from stealing his truck, authorities said. The Hillsborough County Sheriff Office says the inspector left his county truck running Dec. 27 as he inspected a new home. Deputies say McKenya Thomas, 22, jumped into the truck to steal it. The inspector also entered the vehicle to prevent the theft, but was thrown from the truck as she sped off.
