Perhaps it was apropos that the fog rolled into the Monterey Peninsula late Sunday afternoon. As the sun-splashed day morphed into a grey mist, the USA Walker Cup Team broke open what was a tight contest at Cypress Point to leave the visiting Great Britain and Ireland side in a fog, rolling to a 17-9 victory in the 50th edition of the biennial competition. Dominating the singles portion for a second consecutive day, the USA produced 8.5 of the available 10 points after the two teams split the morning foursomes session (2-2) and trailed by a point going into the...

Before all this, the seaside stretch of Lido Beach, a mere hour outside Manhattan, clung to a fading postcard of its former self. The one with new money elites frolicking along the shoreline. The one with flappers dancing the night away, hair bobbed, frills shimmering. The one with the Lido Hotel in the middle of it all — six stories high and flamingo pink. The gall it took to build this thing. A remnant of the Roaring Twenties. Four hundred and forty rooms, a 9,000-square-foot ballroom, the oceanside solarium. The elaborate, rococo-inspired mega-hotel was built by the same architectural firm...

VIDEOBANG! WOOSH!Canadians have a reputation for being polite. So when Canadian golfers get into a fight they courteously make sure to provide the appropriate sound effects as you can see here. It looked so much like a scene out of a Batman TV episode that I felt obligated to provide the proper visuals to go with the sound effects. So what is the moral lesson that can be taken from this video? It's that when you down enough Molsons on the golf course, you end up feeling no pain. WOOSH!!!

Archaeologists excavating the site of a future golf course were surprised to find evidence of a prehistoric village — including a rare chariot wheel dating back millennia. The excavation took place near Inverness, Scotland, at the site of the future Old Petty Championship Golf Course at Cabot Highlands. Experts working for Avon Archaeology Highland also found a Bronze Age cremation urn estimated to be 3,500 years old, along with flint tools and quern stones, which were used to grind grains. Remnants of at least 25 Neolithic-era wooden buildings were also uncovered at the site, according to the BBC. Archaeologists told...

President Trump dined with major donors at his Northern Virginia golf course Thursday – the same venue where he is expected to break bread with the top holders of his memecoin next month. The price of admission to attend the fundraiser for MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump super PAC, reportedly started at $1 million, with multiple outlets reporting that “host” status would be given to donors contributing at least $5 million to the political group. Details of the goings-on at the dinner were not immediately available. It appears that White House pool reporters were not privy to the function. Trump previously...

Of all the hazards a golf course might face, a parking lot affair by the recycling bin wasn't exactly on the scorecard for Skylinks at Buchanan Fields in California. For the business, a public 9-hole course in East Bay, the biggest drama of the season hasn’t come from a bunker or a blown putt. It has come from two parked cars in the far corner of the lot, where an alleged weekly rendezvous has transformed a family-friendly fairway into the site of a full-blown soap opera. A spicy Instagram post from the course lit up social media last week with...

Rory McIlroy's four-year-old daughter Poppy holed a 25-foot putt in the Par 3 Contest to steal the show on the eve of the Masters at Augusta National. But while Rory, Shane Lowry and the patrons around the ninth green celebrated the putt as though she'd won the Green Jacket, Poppy was less enamoured and just wanted a comforting hug from dad.
