HOUSTON – A 16-year-old drug case involving George Floyd was among the hundreds of cases connected to ex-Houston police Officer Gerald Goines that are being reviewed by prosecutors, according to Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg. Speaking to Khambrel Marshall during an interview that will air on Sunday’s edition of Houston Newsmakers, Ogg said that Floyd, a Houston native who died while being detained by police in Minnesota on Memorial Day, was convicted by Goines as part of a single-witness drug case in 2004. Cases involving Goines were questioned after he was charged with murder and tampering with a government...

A man who worked at the same club with George Floyd and Derek Chauvin – and previously told CBS News the two had "bumped heads" – changed his story Wednesday, saying he had mistaken Floyd for another unnamed African-American employee. David Pinney told CBS News he worked at the same club where Chauvin and Floyd were employed to provide part-time security. Chauvin is the former police officer who is charged in Floyd's death. In an interview with CBS News, parts of which aired Tuesday, Pinney had described a tense relationship between Chauvin and a man who he said was Floyd,...

Why the George Floyd case may not be open and shut We examine the issues likely to be brought up by prosecution and defense if the case against the police goes to trial. And we examine infamous cases of alleged police abuse in the past where none of the officers ended up being convicted of crimes.

President Trump retweeted a video Friday of right-wing commentators Glenn Beck and Candace Owens attacking the reputation of George Floyd. “The fact that he has been held up as a martyr sickens me,” Owens told Beck in the footage. “George Floyd was not a good person.” As mass protests rocked the nation for yet another day, the Trump retweet amplified the message to a worldwide audience and his 81.8 million Twitter followers. Beck and Owens then delved into Floyd’s lengthy criminal record, which included time behind bars. Floyd’s autopsy report revealed he had both fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system...

George Floyd died Monday from a combination of preexisting health conditions exacerbated by being held down by Minneapolis officers, not from strangulation or asphyxiation, based on the medical examiner’s initial report. Preliminary findings from a Tuesday autopsy conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner found “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxiation or strangulation,” according to the criminal complaint filed Friday against former officer Derek Michael Chauvin. “Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease,” said the complaint from the Hennepin County Attorney. “The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained...

The death of George Floyd after an interaction with the Minneapolis Police Department has rocked the world and while everyone reading this believes that an officer that put his knee in the back of Floyd’s neck for close to nine minutes was the cause of death, the facts and evidence are anything but that. It is typically associated with the use of drugs Subjects typically die from a heart attack and the majority of...

... a private autopsy conducted by two doctors found he died of asphyxia, which happens which pressure is placed on certain parts of the body, limiting the flow of oxygen to the brain and shutting down organs. Hours later, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner issued a new report saying that he died of "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression." The medical examiner's report also listed "arteriosclerotic and hypertensive heart disease," "fentanyl intoxication" and "recent methamphetamine use" as "other significant conditions."

Figured this was already posted but Alas! I don't see it in keyword search. Candace hasn't said much yet ... in this ... she says a lot - she takes the black community to task very fairly and with facts and reason. It's very heartfelt though, rather than standard media political argument/debate or take down of the other side -> often online or in interviews she's playing 'conservative political influencer / celebrity', but this is more natural, I think one of her best if not best.

The head of the Minneapolis police union says George Floyd’s “violent criminal history” needs to be remembered and that the protests over his death are the work of a “terrorist movement.” “What is not being told is the violent criminal history of George Floyd. The media will not air this,” police union president Bob Kroll told his members in a letter posted Monday on Twitter. Floyd had landed five years behind bars in 2009 for an assault and robbery two years earlier, and before that, had been convicted of charges ranging from theft with a firearm to drugs, the Daily...

Shocking new surveillance video appears to show George Floyd in a violent struggle with Minneapolis police before his death. Floyd can't be seen in the footage, but one cop can be seen leaning through the back door and visibly struggling with him. The clip was posted by activist Shaun King, who wrote: 'BREAKING: Just got this new video. It’s all coming together. Police were in the car beating the sh** out of George Floyd. One stands watch, while the others attacked him.' Later, white officer Derek Chauvin was captured on video by a bystander kneeling on Floyd's neck as he...
