A U.S. computer scientist and a Microsoft researcher have devised a program that drastically reduces application crashes and can prevent some types of attacks by altering the way applications use memory. How do you rip/encode from a cd so that it is just one file instead of individual songs, for instance a live album where you don't want a break between songs. just got a slightly faster web connection and am looking to download come quality freebies ;) What do you consier absolute "must-have" freeware programs? All opinions greatly appreciated.

Am using a Visoneer 8900 USB scanner. In geneeal, it works well and gives a good quality output: copy (though only 1 print per run!), print and scans. OCR is adequate, though not often needed. But - what software/freeware/shareware do you recommend for faxing? Am on Windows XP, earthlink DSL, connected via USB, and have the usual Word and Excel programs. Paperport comes with the scanner, but it doesn't have a fax feature.
