MoveOn.org also published a derogatory photomanipulation of the Pope It is a matter of record that Barack Obama solicited (http://www.stentorian.com/cartoons/2008/obama_pope1.jpg) and accepted (http://moveon.org/press/pr/obamaendorsementrelease.html) the support of MoveOn.org, whose now-disgraced Action Forum served as a platform for the most vicious imaginable anti-Semitic hate speech. This included an actual blood libel of Jews, a statement that Jews control all the media, and even a suggestion that Jews did “something” to deserve the Holocaust....MoveOn.org itself published a derogatory photomanipulation of Pope Benedict. 9/11 denial and 9/11 conspiracy theories, anti-Evangelical hate speech, contempt for Vietnam veterans similar to that expressed by MoveOn.org’s defamation of...

Suffice it to say that I was not very hopeful about the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency held at the California megachurch last Saturday night. In the first place, I am not really comfortable with the idea of hosting such a politically charged event in a church. No matter how the event is planned and projected, once the event starts it can turn into something far more politically volatile than planned. That is a truth I have learned by hard experience. Secondly, the advance publicity about the event touted it as a platform for a kind of "third way"...

Originally I wasn't going to get into that whole commentary about the Rick Warren forum between the presidential candidates at Saddleback. But -- since McCain outshined Obama and the Obamanites started screaming foul because (they say) McCain answered so quickly that he must have had some forewarning of what the questions would be. That way, he could cram for the exam. The first thing that strikes me is that people will often accuse other people of doing something that they would have done or would like to do. The second thing is that the reason for McCain's quick responses could...

NBC News' Andrea Mitchell said today on Meet the Press that some in the Obama Campaign are saying privately that John McCain may not have been in a "cone of silence" last night at the Rick Warren "Civil Forum on the Presidency" - meaning they are suggesting McCain cheated at the event by hearing the questions Obama was receiving and had time to prepare his answers! Apparently, so bad was Obama's performance compared to McCain's, that Obama's campaign has already resorted to claiming McCain must have cheated to have done so well. The discussion in which Andrea Mitchell makes this...

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — When John McCain and Barack Obama appear on the same stage today, they will vividly demonstrate the reach that has made the Rev. Rick Warren among the most significant evangelists of his generation. He's a megastar who leads the nation's fourth-largest church and reaches thousands of ministers through the Internet and crusades against poverty and AIDS. That globe-trotting work and his successful book — "The Purpose-Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?" — puts him at the vanguard of a movement that inspires young, socially conscious Christians. But his willingness to soft-pedal political issues...

O.K., sorry for the vanity but I have a concern. This Saturday night, McCain and Obama do a forum together at Saddleback Church, where Rick Warren is the Pastor. This can be crucial, relative to the religious vote in this presidential campaign. Many think the smooth-talking Obama is going to come off great and leave John McCain, who is not one to talk about regligion, looking like a dolt. Many believe this will be a huge opportunity and advantage for Obama. I wish to heck Rick Warren would have left well-enough alone. He's just got to have some "spotlight". This...

Hello Folks: It's May 1st and I'd like to ask you for a little help. The current Freepathon started on April 1st. Here we are a month later and the total given or pledged is sputtering toward the finish line. I appreciate everyone's constributions to date. It's impressive that we come together like this to support the forum. Despite the great job that has been done, I still think we can do better. We are still thousands from the goal. I'd like to put a big dent in the amount remaining to be covered. Will some of you please join...

How do I subscribe to a Forum/Topic? I have several Forum/Topics that show up on my sidebar, which I can rearrange off the Configure Sidebar link. But I'll be danged if I can figure out how to add any more Topics to this list. I just realized that there is a "tech-news" Topic/Forum that seems to overlap with the "computers-chat" Topic/Forum, and I'd like to add it to my sidebar. But I can't figure out how to do that.

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry promised to keep fighting for private toll roads and his other transportation priorities Tuesday during his first major speech on the subject since the death in December of transportation commission chairman Ric Williamson. "This is a place for big challenges, not big excuses," he told state Transportation Department employees and highway experts from around the country at the annual Transportation Forum. Next year's legislative session, he said, can't be anything like last year's. "The Legislature must understand that 'no' is not a solution," Mr. Perry said. "It is an abdication of responsibility." Before last year's...

I hope this is posted someplace else, but I could not find it. Senator McCain was interviewed live before a packed Villanova college audience. He answered directly, received considerable interruptions for applause and was forthright in his prolife beliefs. He also discussed 527 groups and his willingness to squelch ours if they squelch theirs. He also received great applause on the earmark issue. Finally, he outlined his policy towards Iran and the nature of a response if they develop an atom bomb. I imagine this will be repeated so I offer this short summary as an encouragement to listen. He...

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday that the potential for life begins at conception as she and presidential rival Sen. Barack Obama answered questions about faith and religion in both their personal lives and the public discourse. In a forum devoted to an issue rare on the campaign trail, the two White House hopefuls talked about the presence of God in their lives and how often they read the Bible as well as divisive issues such as abortion, abstinence and human rights within the context of faith. The two are reaching out to people of faith...

House Democrats sponsor economic forum U.S. congressional Democrats said they will have a forum with economic and financial experts looking at implications of problems in housing and credit markets. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Financial Services Committee Chairman Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said the economic forum will be Wednesday in the Capitol. Restoring the American dream for millions of our nation's working families has been a central priority for House Democrats, Pelosi said in a news release. BRASILIA, Brazil - Encouraged that all major U.S. presidential candidates vow to protect the environment, lawmakers from industrialized nations and big emerging economies met Wednesday to craft solutions to global warming and rising deforestation. Scores of legislators and officials from China to Cameroon were considering approval of a document demanding "ambitious absolute emission reductions for developed countries" to fight climate change. Proposals in the draft document included a global carbon market in which nations would be able to trade and sell credits, sharp increases in funding for developing countries to reduce emissions and even a worldwide ban on incandescent light...
