Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the upper chamber’s second oldest member, has filed paperwork to run for reelection in 2028. Grassley, 89, won reelection last week to his eighth term, and he would be 95 years old at the time of the 2028 elections and a centenarian when that term ends. The Iowa Republican filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission on Wednesday. The filing does not necessarily mean Grassley will run for a ninth term. Washington -- Federal authorities investigating the deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi have filed charges against Ahmed Abu Khattalah, leader of a Libyan militia that officials believe was involved in the assault, people briefed on the investigation said. The charges under seal are the first criminal counts to emerge from the probe. The investigation of the attack last September 11 that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three others continues, these people said, as investigators try to build their case against Khattalah and others who authorities believe were involved.

Prosecutors filed murder and kidnapping charges Monday against a man accused in the gruesome dragging death of his 49-year-old girlfriend. Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, also faces charges of forging and possessing a government-issued document. He was being held without bail. Taranova Glick was the daughter of Strong’s girlfriend. She died on July 13th from blunt-force trauma to the abdomen. BERLIN (AP) - A group of American civil rights attorneys filed a criminal complaint in German court on Tuesday against top U.S. officials, including Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, for acts of torture committed at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. The complaint also names former CIA director George Tenet, the former commander in Iraq Lt. Gen.
