Our neighbor, who always gives us a cooked ham early every Christmas morning, just brought over a 9 lb goose. Did a Google search - lots of recipes - looking for a traditional Christmas way of preparing this bird. We are having a late dinner - 6 PM. What is the best way to cook a goose?

Last year there was quite a discussion about Quicken and the spyware program 'Cdilla' that they employ. Because of that I am not interested in using their product this year. Anyone else feel the same, and if so, what program(s) are worth using?

I recall on a recent thread someone posting that one can find out how many times a given FREEPer has posted to the forum. I know how to find out how LONG someone has been a member, but how do we find the number of posts someone has put up? Just wondering. rd.

Just wondering why there is a speaker/pager thing by our user names on the pages now of Free Republic. Not sure what it is about. I click on it with some message about java, then it leads me back to the news activism posts. Can anyone clear this up? Thanks, Brad

I have tried several times to post articles here that I thought were quite important and relevant and should be opened up to discussion here on Free Republic. These articles were about issues that greatly concern us all. Each time that I have tried to post such an article (it happened again just a few minutes ago) I get a message that says "Articles from ________________ not welcome here". So that I do not in the future ever again waste my time (my time being valuable to me) how do I know what is welcome here and what is not...

I noticed this morning that a little speaker icon had popped up next to my screen name, and when I let the browser settle on it, the word "pager" appears. When I click on it, it just takes me to my comments, same as clicking on "New Messages." Could someone please explain this innovation? Thanks.

What's this FR pager thingy?

Occasionally while I'm FReeping, I'll click a thread so I can read it, but instead of taking me to that thread, it'll take me to a completely different site altogether. For example, the latest one it took me to is Golf Online. Does it have anything to do with my computer? Is there something I can do to fix it?

I enjoyed going to dumpdaschle.org every now and then to see the progress being made on the effort to oust Hitlery's obedient servant TommyBoy. But when I went today, I'm getting zilch. Did the website and/or effort to Dump Daschle die?? Please tell me it ain't so!!RD.

Just wanted to share an idea with you. My mother in law is 92, physically but not mentally infirm. She had always been diligent about sending cards to people for all occasions. Last year, I realized she was beating herself up about not sending cards because she couldn't get out to buy them. So, one day, I went to a discount card shop, and bought around 50 cards. Son Birthday, Daughter Birthday, Graduation, Wedding, Sympathy, Get Well, etc. Plus a lot of generic cards. I packaged them all up, with a roll of stamps. It was really fun shopping for...

Does anyone know of a number, website, etc., where I can find out if any volunteers are needed to fight the wildfires or support the firefighters with food/water/whatever? I'm off work right now, not a lot of money to give, but I have the time.

Ok, brainiacs.. I've searched all over the internet trying to identify this girl. We found it in my mom's bathroom and we live in north GA. It didn't have any type of web nearby. She is (my brother still has her in a jar for fun) 1.5-2 inches long. We've never seen one like it here.
