Where do I volunteer to help with the wildfires?
Posted on 10/29/2003 5:55:54 PM PST by agooga
Does anyone know of a number, website, etc., where I can find out if any volunteers are needed to fight the wildfires or support the firefighters with food/water/whatever?
I'm off work right now, not a lot of money to give, but I have the time.

According to what I've heard from Roger Hedgecock, they will turn you away unless you're state certified.

A fireman friend of mine told me you need special certification to fight these types of fires.
You could probably help evacuees, at local shelters. You've got alot of displaced and homeless people there. Contact local community groups or Red Cross, United Way, etc.

(I finally just had to put my tagline out in the yard, it was tearing up the furniture.)
