LAST weekend, Barack Obama dazzled crowds in Europe. Discussing international security, he spoke eloquently about needing an American-European partnership to defeat terrorism. In Paris, he said that “terrorism cannot be solved by any one country alone,” and that we should establish partnerships. In Berlin, he expressed hope that Europeans and Americans “can join in a new and global partnership to dismantle the networks” of terrorists worldwide. But there’s one problem. John Doolittle defeat Democratic challenger Charlie Brown in November, said Wednesday that he is seriously considering challenging Doolittle in next year's Republican primary because the congressman is too damaged to win the general election. My friend Maj. Eric Egland is a contributing author to Blog of War: Front Line Dispatches from Iraq and Afghanistan, a newly-released anthology of stories from military members and their families published by Simon & Shuster. Eric did tours in both countries. He and his wife Ania were on CNN twice last week talking about the book and about how media coverage of Iraq and Afghanistan bears little resemblance to reality on the ground.
