Egland Supports McClintock for Congress, Indicates He Would Not Run if Tom Does
Eric Egland for Congress Via Email | Feb 19 2008 | Eric Egland

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 19, 2008---"I recently learned State Senator Tom McClintock is considering running for Congress. I enthusiastically encourage Senator McClintock to enter the race. He is a true conservative who we can trust to represent us in Congress."

"I started this campaign because I wanted to offer ethical, conservative leadership that I believe is missing from Congress. With Sen. McClintock, I see no need to continue my campaign. I cannot think of a person more qualified to carry that torch. He has proven to be a man of uncompromising principle and integrity throughout his years of public service.

I believe in Senator McClintock. I have supported him in the past and I would be proud to call him my Congressman. Should he enter the race, I will immediately withdraw and begin helping him raise the funds necessary to bring his message to the voters of the 4th Congressional District."

Eric is currently on a military deployment in Africa and not available for comment by phone. Questions may be emailed to him at eegland@hotmail.com and he will reply as soon as possible.

Voting for McClintock would give me a good reason to go to the polls on election day.

Wow, a non-egotistical, similarly minded candidate that is looking out for the best interests of our country??? Is there something else he could run for?

Call me a skeptic, but this is becoming stinkier every day.

First, Egland is a sleazeball for how he slimed Doolittle. Regardless, he doesn’t have a chance, IMO. From all indications, he was clearly the RNC candidate. So all of this rallying around McClintock to run in a district that 1) McClintock doesn’t live in but 2) can probably be assured of winning, just looks like a grand play to sweep McClintock out of California government and clear the decks for RINO Poisoner to run for Governor. Why is it that all these ex-Democrats (Egland and Poizner) are suddently the “voices” of the Republican party?

Dang... and a helicopter really did just fly by!

This is Egland’s way to back out gracefully. He’s a loser and he was going to loose to Doolittle’s old friend Rico. Now he has found a way to cut from this whole fiasco and look like a good guy.

He’s still a loser.

And if Tom doesn’t run, the ‘good conservative’ will throw all his support to Rico, right?

I won’t hold my breath.

If Tom doesn’t run, Rico will win.

I’m with you! Something is up here. There is already a good conservative candidate that would win in Rico Oller for them to be pushing McClintock. I also agree that Egland is a slimeball. Don’t trust this at all.

I still think Tom should run in his own district and let Rico have this one. Two wins!

If Tom doesn’t run for Governor, I see little hope for this State.

Gallegly files papers for re-election
By Timm Herdt
February 11, 2008

Seeking to put an end to rumors and speculation about his political future, Rep. Elton Gallegly filed his nomination papers for re-election this morning at the very first moment he could do so.

“I paid the fee and I took the oath,” Gallegly said. “And I know what the rules are.”

Two years ago, confusion about the rules created an embarrassment when Gallegly announced his intention to retire, only to find out he could not withdraw his name as a candidate after having already filed his nomination papers.

In the end, Gallegly decided not to retire and successfully ran for re-election to his 11th term.

“We were going through some health issues that were unresolved,” Gallegly said this morning. “They have been resolved to more than my satisfaction.”

The candidate-filing period for the June primary opened Monday and will run through March 7. Partisan primaries will be held June 3 in all congressional and legislative districts in California.

He probably sees all the RINOs lining up against him and thinks Washington looks better every day! LOL.

It’s so sad! And disgusting!

Tom should take a shot for running for something he can win. You and I know these people will never allow him to win the Governorship... ever. They wouldn't even take the risk of him winning the Lt Governorship.
