Team USA figure skater Amber Glenn has revealed she is taking a break from social media after receiving a 'scary amount of hate' for condemning Donald Trump over his treatment of the LGBTQ+ community. Glenn, who is the first openly-queer woman to compete for the US in Olympic figure skating, addressed the impact of the Trump administration's policies on LGBTQ+ Americans at a press conference for the Winter Games in Italy. A transgender man has said they are being forced to flee Florida because of anti-LGBTQ laws. Brave Rory Richards, from Alachua County, has said state laws mean he is now unable to be prescribed gender-affirming care. Senate Bill 254 was passed by state lawmakers earlier this year and was signed by Governor Ron DeSantis. It stops transgender treatment for anyone under the age of 18, while adults like Rory, 28, have to give consent to treatment and have a physician with them. I just realized...I mean that. It's going to come down to this. I have often argued, as many here have, that when FReepers said they would sit home rather than vote for (McCain, usually, sometimes Guiliani), that such sitting out would put Hilary in the Whitehouse. But I'm not moving on this.
